Total Time = 2h 12m 26s
Overall Rank = 459/650
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast at 5 a.m., cheerios, blueberries, coffee. Sipped accelarade until 6 a.m. when it was time to leave for race
Event warmup:

some stretching
Swim
  • 22m 56s
  • 750 yards
  • 03m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

water was murky, couldn't see others until right on top of them. I was nervous at first and breast stroked for the first couple of minutes to calm down.

Due to adrenaline (or nerves) I had to breathe on almost every stroke, instead of every 3 like I normally do. I did get a rhythm going and remembered to rotate hips and all. My swim time was exactly what I predicted.
What would you do differently?:

be more aggressive
Transition 1
  • 04m 8s
Comments:

body glide helped getting suit off. I need to work on cutting down on transition time (don't do gloves next time)
Bike
  • 1h 00m 33s
  • 17 miles
  • 16.85 mile/hr
Comments:

great ride. Felt good passing all those guys!
What would you do differently?:

push myselft harder
Transition 2
  • 02m 18s
Comments:

bike with running shoes. took a moment to stretch, to avoid calf cramps
Run
  • 42m 30s
  • 5 miles
  • 08m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

again, felt great passing those guys. I was very conscious of pacing myself. I had energy to spare at the end.
What would you do differently?:

push a bit harder
Post race
Warm down:

drink and stretch

Event comments:

I'll be back next year. A good excuse to visit the hometown

Congratulations on a great race. I thought about doing this one but thought it might be a little long for my first. Looking forward to next year.

Nice race -- you passed a ton of people on the bike and run! That must have been fun. Congratulations!
