handerson2005 - 2013-03-11 5:25 PMI decided to do Kinetic the next weekend. You can't pay me enough to swim in DC water.

I am already voluntarily getting into the Hudson at least once, probably twice, this summer. So, I guess I can compare Potomac and Hudson. Any recommendations on a mid-Atlantic/East Coast river swim to make the hat trick of "you swam WHERE?"

The Annapolis Tri Club is putting on a sprint Tri at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center on 30 June. With Tri Rock Annapolis date up in the air, it should be a good alternative.  Details and registration are on their website   www.triannapolis.org   Check it out.

I'm also in for the Nation's Tri.

We should have a "Refugee's from Annapolis" team.

Now this is a project with some merit. If there were a way to find all of us and make tshirts or something, I'd be into it. Or is there actually a team division? I'd not be helping any podiums, but just to see the name in the results would be awesome.

I haven't gotten any info about the refund yet.

An interesting search led me to the Special Events Applications site for Annapolis.

(It doesn't line up perfectly, but you can get the drift)

TriRock to Benefit The Special Olympics - Maryland 7/20/13 1 Dock St.Withdrawn

I find it interesting that the permit has now been withdrawn. I'd be surprised if this event goes off this year.

Between the last two posts, I am really starting to wonder what the heck is going on. If they cancel it, I can say I did an entire run of an event's history, all two years of it.

It's a shame really. What a great venue, even with the narrow bike course problem.

I don't doubt the getting into Nations, but I'm not surprised it is taking a long time. They don't exactly have a huge staff working on this fulltime. I wonder if competitor group may decide the profit margins on a tri aren't worth it compared to the ATM that is the rock and roll marathon series.

Well, a number of you predicted this as inevitable. I just got the email that Annapolis has been canceled. When they moved the date I opted for the Nations transfer, and I did get confirmation of that. I am sorry for those who were still looking forward to this race in July. Consolation: Ann Wessling will be at the finish at Nations, I confirmed this with her on facebook.

Anyone else who transferred to Nations just get the cancellation email? That's crazy. I'm worried my reg didn't go through (although I did get the confirmation).

I fall into that category. I got my confirmation of the transfer weeks ago. And I just got the email about the cancellation. I assume they just have a master email list for the Annapolis race that wasn't changed manually for all the transfers.

I opted for the refund (and got it) and still got the cancelation email. My guess is that they're sending it to everyone.

What is it with this city and triathlons? They cannot seem to get it together. Any other local options for this time of year? I am already doing the Nations Tri, and I wanted something in July.

Hagerstown Tri has a pool swim and a short bike. Fort Ritchie Tri has Oly and Sprint options but a miserable course if you're a poor cyclist. I did them both last year - both by Racine Multisport - and they were both very well organized and a lot of fun. Hagerstown is 7/21, Fort Ritchie is 8/4. I'm likely doing both again, then Nations.

If you're more interested in staying along 95, the Diamond In The Rough triathlon is 7/13 with Sprint/International options. If you want something earlier, the General Smallwood Tri is 7/6 and 7/7 depending on the distance you want. I've never done either, but heard good things about both. I'm considering the DITR.
