My children were escorted to their buses on Friday by our state police and the state police were there when I dropped off my children today.  I heard they will be there all week.  We have had a lock down at another district in the state due to a man in black with an umbrella.  In Connecticut, our nerves are raw and we are all on edge.  It's going to be a long time before we aren't.

I am in Texas, which is obviously not even close to CT.  However, I would be lying if I said I didn't feel a bit of anxiety when dropping my kids off this morning.

Listening to the talking heads on TV over the weekend, the phrase often bandied about was "the new normal" and how security and procedures will change going forward. Disturbing to see how much trust and comfort has been destroyed in the past two decades.

Schools are on very high alert all over the US.

My company has several schools that are customers and our phones have been ringing off the hook to assist them in implementing better communication plans and asking questions about what their current technology can do.

My daughter's bus didn't have anything special on Friday. Don't know about today yet. School just ended 2 minutes ago. Are your kids still in the public schools here? Could be because my girl is in Catholic school?

Yeah Dave, they are in public school. I didn't notice any police presence this afternoon. We will see what happens with tomorrow mornings drop off.

Anna told us at dinner that indeed they were at SHS on Friday and again this morning. It's reassuring if nothing else.
