Lake Sammamish Half Marathon : Official Thread (Page 2)

Hope everyone's training is going well. 

Someone told me they had read that the race was going to be capped at 2,000 runners.  I looked up last years results and there were about 1,050.  2,000 seems like a lot of people to funnel onto the path.  Anyone know what the cap is? 

Pretty cool plan - and Black Raven after sounds awesome.  

I haven't heard, but now I'm even more excited for this race, because it will be the biggest (by entrants) I have ever ran... woo hoo.  

I just messaged the RD about it--loaned him my table saw today.  So I will post a message when he lets me know his thoughts.  I am thinking that because it is starting in Redmond, there will be more time for people to get spaced out before they hit the tight trail, depending on exactly where in Marymoor they start the race. Hopefully he has people attempt to line up by pace, as well, which is what I will suggest if he doesn't already have that in mind.  I'll be working at packet pickup the day before, as well.

I was hoping my brother could pick up my packet the day before when he gets his.  What would he need to provide in order to pick up mine?

With not quite a month to go, the website now shows the race is 95% full.  Wow, I'm starting to really get excited.  Hope everyone's training is going well.

Another question as I was looking at the map, at about the 12 mile mark the course goes back and forth several times through what appears to be a parking lot.  Seems like an aweful lot of turns so late in the race.  Did they do that last year?  If so, what was that like?

It is the reverse route from the past couple of years, and each of those years started with winding around a parking lot--it actually worked ok to thin out the pack before hitting the more narrow trail.  This time, I guess it will give you the chance to see who is ahead of you and you can then decide if you need to kick up your pace to beat them!  I think it is the only way to get a true 13.1 on the course available.

I am running 12 on Friday before leaving on a long weekend vacation....I think I am ready.  Not going to PR this one, just going to have fun seeing a lot of friends out there enjoying this hobby.  I am signing up for the Vancouver half too.  It's so pretty!

I won't be running this...but would  love to join in on a get together!! I can watch you all drink a beer!

I am in... My son is with his Mom that weekend.. I am free all day (and night)..

Also.. what kind of times does everyone think they will run this in?  Are some of the faster runners planning on hanging around at the finish line - then we head over as a semi group, or is the fastest of us (Salty) going to go to the restaurant and reserve a table?  Should we call ahead?  and the last question.. 

Who is going definitely going to be there for a beer?  

I am definitely in for the beer, and my goal time is 1:35.  

Is there an Applebee's near by.. aren't they always open?

Looking at the website...looks like this race is not an out and back... do they have shuttles that take you back to the start point?  Or do you park at the finish, and they have shuttles that take you to the start line?

Where is the Start?
Event parking, Check-In and Start are at Marymoor Park, and there are shuttles waiting at the finish line at Lake Sammamish State Park to take you back to Marymoor Park. See here for more information.

Do I have to pay for the shuttle?
Shuttles are free for race participants.

How often does the shuttle take off? 
You can board the shuttles as soon as you finish and the shuttles will be heated. Don't forget to pick up your bag at gear check if you checked in dry clothes in the morning and carry it on the shuttle with you. The shuttles will leave when full or every 15 minutes, which ever comes first.

Those are going to be some stinky shuttles!  Luckily it's not too far to ride!  I am having my family meet me at the finish line...but again, that is only 10-15 min from home so it's easy.  I do know that they don't want you to leave your car at MM any longer than necessary, as there is a Cirque du Soliel show that also uses the parking lot and Cirque is sort of weirding out about it (which I think is silly, since the RD paid a huge amt for parking).  In any case, if we do end up meeting somewhere for drinks after, just be sure to take your car from the park and don't plan to leave it there.

What's the parking situation around the finish area?  We are kind of planning on leaving our cars there and getting someone to drive us to the start.

More importantly, someone needs to make a final call on a place to have a few beers afterwards.  I have seen some pretty promising BT get-togethers fade for lack of decisiveness.  Leslie, since you know the area, can you just decide for us and then I can back to worrying about just the race?

I second this (Leslie as the decision maker)... Hate to have this one fade.  I'm looking forward to meeting you all as much as I am to the race.
