Today was good . . . had an awesome swim on a 100% fat breakfast. As the day went on though, the day two headache hit hard. I attribute it more to no grain than no sugar. Hopefully it will fade by day 4 or so.

Great job everyone - keep it up.

What do you mean 100% fat breakfast?

For breakfast I had bulletproof coffee. It was made up of calories derived 100% from fat.

Sounds very odd . . . but the energy it gives is pretty good.

Have been on that site before, but does the coffee taste good!? Lol

It's ok, leaves a little bit of a film in your mouth (imagine that . . . drinking oil and butter). I don't do it every day, just 1-2 times per week while I am working toward fat adaptation. I don't swear to that coffee like others do, but it is something I am kind of experimenting with.

This morning I am having just regular ol' black coffee . . .

Yesterday was a success.  Made it through the grocery store with an empty stomach and didn't end up with any junk in the buggy.  I can't say that I didn't look at it and think happy thoughts about it, but I didn't buy it which means I can't eat it!  It's the little things

TheClaaaw - 2013-01-02 6:09 PM I'm in. My situation got pretty dire, reaining weight, not going to my OA meetings, then I finally bought into the reality of my justifying my addiction with endurance training. I am off sugar and grains entirely. I'm going fully ketogenic which will be a long process, but the heck with my whole story, I'm sugar free for January, so I am in!

BTW LOVE reading your blog!!!!

I'm in because I am doing a Paleo kick start to the year anyways. 4 days sans sugar so far and no cravings so far!

Btw, I have a social function to attend tonight where I am supposed to bring a dessert. As I am fully on the no sugar no grains train, I am trying a recipe I found on a paleo site, for cheesecake. Full fats, almond meal crust, and I did opt for the truvia (stevia based) sweetener. I am making this for many non-paleo folks, so I put in the sweetener. I hate to use non-sugar sweeteners, but I feel more comfortable with stevia than anything else. If I were just making it for our house, I would make it without. I will let you all now how it comes out, probably putting it on my blog tomorrow. I dont't want to get on the sweetness craving train even with stevia. I think the full fat aspect will keep it. It will be a good experiment.

That phrase works on at least two levels. Junk in the buggy. Love it.

I think the cheesecake came out great. I won't bother with the truvia next time, it adds little. The sauteed blueberries were new for me, but any time you add cinnamon to blueberries, I think you can't go wrong. The better dish I tried out was a huge hit. Prosciutto wrapped figs with goat cheese, grilled. Amazing.

While enjoying a mid day homemade trail (all nuts/seeeds) I found in my hand a few chocolate chips at bottom of container, left over from a previous batch.... I ate them.....they were good. Ah confession, I feel better now

Day 6 Unsweetened....seems to be going well.  Mind is starting to look at sweeteners like I do other foods I don't eat like beef and cheese.  Basically if a dish has beef or cheese in it, it's easy to walk away as those are foods I have not eaten many years.  Slowly my brain is switching over to this way of thinking again.  Although I have noticed I want salt, which I have never had a salt palate.  Anyone else noticing some changes?

I bought some new tea bags yesterday.  Bengal Spice.  The ingredients look OK, although it does show "natural flavors", which could be just about anything.  No sugars or carbs in the nutritional info.  It's yummy, almost sweet.  Spicy, chai-like, strong cinnamon taste...yum.

Today was the best day so far for sure. I had a nuun tablet last night in some water (for the sodium), and that did wonders. Today was the first day I didn't want to snack the whole time.

Maintained a fairly sugar free weekend.  I had a teeny bit of 1/2 cal OJ one morning.  Normally don't do the fruit juice thing.  I have to confess to the soda I've been drinking though.  Coke Zero.  I know it adds nothing nutritionally to my body, but I've been fighting nausea for over a week, and it's the only thing that sounds good to drink.  Water just makes my stomach turn right now.  No clue why.  Hoping the tummy troubles subside so I can get back to eating a little better.  I am enjoying the weightloss that comes with no appetite though

Ahhhhh Coke Zero = Chemicals!    Interesting on the nausea, could it be something else besides sugar withdrawal?

Bought my first box of cookies for myself (in over a year) last night.  Ginger snaps.  Everyone says ginger will help with nausea.  Also got a 2 liter of diet ginger ale to wash it down.  Neither work and now I've eaten a serving of cookies last night and another this morning.  11 grams of sugar per serving.  FAIL!
