Age Group = F30-39
Age Group Rank = 642/3247
Pre-race routine:

*Overall is Female only. Also, they didn't have my age so I gave myself the rank of someone with my same time in the correct AG*

I parked on the other side of the river and got there pretty early, I wanted to make sure I got a spot. After sitting in the car for 30 minutes, I finally got brave and headed out.
Event warmup:

I did a warmup of 15 minutes pretty easy, so I didn't get too hot. Near the end of that, I noticed some nice fresh portapotties at the end of the Stone Arch Bridge (which I was just about to cross), so stopped. What a great idea! I am so smart. Ran across the bridge and found my way through to bag drop. If I had realized they would be SO FAR away from the finish, and where I parked, I wouldn't have bothered. But at that point I had my jacket so what to do?

By the time I got back to the 9 min pace marker, things were starting to move. Good timing. I slotted myself towards the front and we started about 9:15ish.

Comments:

Right away I passed a bunch of people. Next time I am started at the 7 min pace marker, seriously. I wish this didn't get to me. I ended up passing 643 people. The road was very slick in spots so I tried to find the best footing and stay nimble. I ran hard when I could, but my pace was all over the place. I just tried to keep at it until the end without stopping or slowing too much. Not a day for a PR :) The last time I ran this it was a much smaller crowd and done in reverse, so I can't really compare the time.
Post race
Warm down:

After getting through the finish line slow-down I made quickly towards the bag pickup. I flashed my bib to the teenage kid working my lane and he grabbed it pretty fast. They were situated by the 3rd Ave/Central bridge, so I just crossed the river there. My car was near the end of the Stone Arch Bridge, but this make sense. I don't plan on doing this race again, but I would suggest to anyone that they park by St. Anthony Main. The jog from there, across Stone Arch, to the race start would make a perfect warmup. Then, after going to bag pickup, the car would be just a short distance away. Since I had my winter jacket to put on, I was perfectly happy to make the extended walk and enjoyed the sunshine.

Event comments:

It blows my mind that my performance earned a top 20% placement in my AG and in women overall. I think it's primarily due to this race attracting a lot of newbies or people who aren't out to "race". Whatever, it makes me feel better :)

Good work, sista!  Way to get out there on a cold day!  And nice job being nimble with your steps - it was slick out there!!

Congrats! No matter how you slice it, you were faster than 80% of your peers and that's pretty cool.

Were you really able to keep a count of every single person you passed?

Oh gosh no   The timing company reports that figure. I always thinks it's interesting.

Wow - I've never seen that in race results. Pretty cool.

I started in the 7 minute pace group and ran the entire run in single and double stacked lines with plenty of room. There were supposed to be a couple of groups ahead of us, but they never materialized before the start (elite wave and 6:30)...I do know they were holding each pace group wave back after my wave to try and spread things out more.
