Would a CamelBak fit into one? I believe its a 1 liter bladder.

Do 70.3 events do these bags?

1. Probably, but you never want to put anything in a SN bag that you don't mind never seeing again

2. No

Are you talking Special Needs or T1/T2 bags?
Not sure why you'd want an entire CamelBak in a "Special Needs" bag.

Some 70.3s do T1 and T2 bags, usually if they are a 2-transition race.

Well from what I've read they drop these bags half way through the run. I figure if I had one coming out of T2 I'd drink it all too quickly. If I had one at the halfway point it would be better.

If the event didnt have them, I'd run out of T2 with it on.

But yea, I wouldnt really want to never see it again. And I REALLY wouldnt want to count on it and not have it.

Well they do in FULL Ironmans - you'd have to check your specific 70.3 to see if they offer it. The ones I've done don't.

Also keep in mind there are typically aid stations every mile on the run.

You don't need a Camelbak, even for IM. As others have noted, there won't be any lack of fluids, food, etc. at a well-run race, so why bother carrying the weight? Most 1/2-IM races will have bottle hand ups during the bike, so it's worth checking out what they're offering and figuring out your hydration strategy for the bike leg.

My one IM regret was forgetting to put endurolytes into my run special needs bag. A promising sub 2-hour 13.1 mile split slowed to a 4:20 marathon finish at IMWI last year, thanks to leg cramps in the second half.
