Suggestions 1 thru 10:  Get used to commando.

For running, it won't matter too much, but for biking, almost anything you wear under them will bunch up and create pressure points and hotspots.

Get used to it, commando, that is.  Our clothing, tri shorts, cycling shorts, etc, are designed to be worn that way.  It's much more comfortable than the alternative - chaffing.

I thought that might be the case,, anything under does bunch up.  First pair of tri-shorts were, to say the least, cheap so I felt like I was as Kramer would say " Out There!!! " My bike shorts are a better grade of material so I will give it a go tonight on my ride.  I am looking for new tri bib shorts, any thoughts on a comfortable brand?

You will hear Desoto 100 mile shorts many times.

I wore cheap shorts until last week when I splurged on a pair at their sale.  OMG.  Like riding on a cloud.  Seriously want to buy a pair for every single time I can ride my bike.  I got the bib-style b/c they were on sale... not a huge fan of that aspect but I don't even care because the material & fit is amazing.

Sugoi, Orca or Zoot for me.  TYR and KSwiss make good stuff too.  2XU is another major brand.  You are probably just going to have to use trial and error.

Road bike shorts are DESIGNED to be worn without anything underneath.

Get used to it.  You will be glad you did.  Underwear is only going to chafe or bind.

Not only should you get used to it, but you may cross-over benefits to other aspects of your life outside of triathlon when done properly.

However, Bodyglide and Chamois cream are only necessary for sport.

I recommend Gold Bond powder for cross-over usage... just not too much!

"Cause I'm Fffreee....Free Ballin..." in my best Tom Petty voice...

As stated already, get a good qulity pair of Tri shorts and call in a day.  I have a couple pairs of Sugoui Shorts and an Orca Tri Suit...all are great.

AWESOME!!!

Oh, and a good pair of bike shorts will keep the twig and berries from bouncing on the run and minimal hot spots on the bike.

Men’s The Original 3” Boxerjock® Boxer Briefs  Under Armour.  No binding, no chaffing, added support when you're soaked.  Link doesn't work for some reason....google it.

x10.  Dont like commando either and have had no issues with the UA Boxerjocks.  I like the 6" ones though.  They dry very quickly as well.

And cue the Xzibt Meme.

Yo dog! I heard that you like bike shorts, so I made some underwear that look like bike shorts to put in your bike shorts!

As others have said, get used to commando.  If you just can't, then my hat's off to you, because you must be "more of a man" than the rest of us.

Seconded (or whatever number we're on at this point).

For biking get at least an entry level bike bib or decent shorts and you should be pretty comfortable. I've used both the cannondale and pearl izumi entry level bibs and they work great for 3 hour rides for me. That being said I can do brick workouts (bike/run combo) with just running shorts on so take me with a grain of salt I suppose.

Comando is the way to go, even for running too (with tights, not short fabric running ones )

Stop looking at it as commando. This is how they were designed.

Those items are made to be worn with nothing else. Any other options asking for trouble.
