Thanks for the website update. I didn't see the pics last time I looked. I'm still wondering more details like where parking is, where the expo and sign up is the day before, etc.

I heard that there are 2 transition areas, one for the swim-bike and another for the bike-run. That is how it was done last year. The swim starts at the lake near the Wilderness Lodge.

Do we give them the bike/running shoes the night before, or are we setting up two transition areas in the morning? Thanks for the info, keep it comming!

this is all second hand info from someone who did it last year. You set up your bike area then get shuttled to the run area to set it up and then shuttled back. Sounds like a real pain.

I did the race last year and there were 2 transitions but it was not a hassle.  The swim was in the lake at the COntemporary hotel and that's where T1 was.  The bike ended in the parking lot at Epcot and that's where T2 was.  Saturday, you rack your bike in T1.  Sunday morning, go to Epcot and prepare your T2 then bus to T1 for the race start.  Sounds like a pain in the butt but it was very well organized and not a problem at all.  You got a bag at T1 to put your swim stuff in.  They (the disney people) take the bags over to T2 so after the race you claim your goggles, cap an anything else you had in T1.  It was very well organized for the spectators too.  They had busses from the contemporary to epcot so family and friends can see the swim and you leave on the bike then get to epcot to see you come in from the bike and finish the race.

This years look different.  Looks like there will only be one transition in Ft. Wilderness.  That's where the transition was for the Florida HIM.  Really nice venue.  Looks like the swim is right at the beach there, the bike leaves from and comes back to there and the run starts there and ends at epcot.  I guess there will be busses after the race to take people back to Ft. Wilderness.

I loved this race last year and can't wait to do it again!

I am looking for someone to pick up Sharon's packet for the aquathlon on Saturday morning. It has to be picked up Friday at the expo which goes to 6pm. We won't be there until 7 at the earliest.

Thanks!

I usually take my bike computer off but have never covered the bike seat. I don't know about parking, I think there was something in the info about a special parking place for the bikes.

It's no problem to leave your bike.  Ther is security there through the night.  I just take the computer off.  Not really concerned about the seat unless they are calling for rain.  I figure that I'll be wet coming onto the bike anyway.  If I rememebr correctly, we did not have to pay for parking last year.  We just told the parking lot attendant that we were there for the race.

Last year the expo was a HUGE disappointment.  I have seen more vendors at a local sprint.

I'm flying from Washington, DC and am a bit concerned. Mainly because I'm an amatuer and don't want to take my bike apart. It has taken a year to get my setup right with the help of a local bike shop. Then I hate the fact that TSA will be opening that box. I travel a lot for work and the way I pack my equipment changes, and more than once have I ended up somewhere wih less stuff than I left with.

Is anyone else also annoyed that they cannot bring there favorite Nalgene bottle aboard the plane.

This will be the first time that I am flying with my bike too.  My husband is very good with putting stuff together so I feel comfortable with him and then having it checked out at the expo.  I just moved to texas from the DC area.  What bike shop do you use?  They should be able to take it apart for you and if you are there to watch, it shold be easier to put back together.  Just remember to mark the height of your seatpost before taking it off.

Where are you staying?  We are at the Wilderness Lodge.  I am going to try to put a BT dinner together on Sat night.  I'll post details here.

I am driving to this race, but travled with my bike once.  If youhave someone traveling with you it will be loads easier.TSA inspected the bike out going but not on the retrun.  They scratched the frame and I was so mad.  When I fly with it next time...and this is just a suggestion....I am going to put a note in the box begging them to be careful...something to the effect of....go ahead and do your job but please be aware this is a $3000 bike and be extremely careful.  My cell # is ______  if you have questions or difficulty re-packing the bike.  I'd really like to put you break it you bought it...but that probably wouldn't inspire them to be careful.
