Also replying to some previous blogs....I found shipping the bike expensive and is a pain but if you pack it right you should not have a problem. I would definitely pay some extra money to get it insured.

Hi Shane,

I did the race last year.  It was my first OLY and I had a blast!  The course is totally different than last year, but the transition is the same as the Florida HIM and it is a really convenient area.  The race is very well organized.  Lots of volunteers and run very well.  They expo left a lot to be desired though.

I am bringing my bike with me.  Rented a case from the LBS.  They will pack it up for me and I will go to the bike shop on site to have them put it back together.

Where are you staying?  It's going to be a fun race!

Thanks for the info. I looked for hotels late, so I could not get a pace at fort wilderness. I went onto orbitz and found a good deal for a best western that is close to DW and it got had a good user rating. We are planning on getting there tomorrow around 10 pm. This is my first Olympic and I am excited. I have done about 5 sprints this year and I have wanted to do a full.

I looked at the finishing times for last year and they seemed slow. Is this course hilly or was it long last year. 30 minutes for the first swimmer in my age group is slow.

I think the swim has somthing to do with most of of the men's waves starting after the women. Not that theres anything wrong with that, but usually I think the competitive age groups for the men go first. So there may be people to swim through. Thats the only thing I can think of.

This is the first race ever that I have been to where there is no wetsuits!!! lol. This should no problem me since I don't wear one, but it seems like the cut off some time. The last race I did the water was below 70 and I really wished I had one.

Thanks!

There is an Italian Restaurant in Downtown Disney.  I forget the name right now . . .

Amanda and I are eating there about 5:30pm Sat. night.

Anyone else interested?

Chris

The Restaurant in Down Town Disney is named Portabella Yacht Club.  It has great Pasta, so my wife says (she was an intern "cast" member here in colege) Amanda and I are going to get there at 5:30pm.

Anyone else?  We'll get there a little early and reserve a big table if so.  Just post on here.

Can't wait to meet everyone.

Anybody know when the results will be up? Also I got 20.4 instead of 24.8 miles for the bike, does anyone know if the run was really 6.2 or not?

No idea on the run.  I had 20.54 for the bike but that includes my running time in and out of transition and I was in the back 40.  I think the swim may have been long.  I'm annoyed about the bike being short.  They could have a least not LIED about it.  I'm with Bob the race was bad

I was really disappointed in this race. I saved energy on the bike for the last half but the last 2 miles it was impossible to pass anyone. I think I add atleast 5 mins on my time there. The run was short but I think the swim was alittle longer. What was up with the warm water!!!! Didn't the $100 fee cover the ice???? NEVER AGAIN for this race. If you want a good race come up to NY and do any of the finger lake tri's.
