LB, you have to stop visiting those sites.  lol

Ads try to be a lot smarter these days so those ads are selectively targeted to you based on sites you visit on your computer or even emails you send.  It has nothing to do with BT because they likely subscribe to an ad service that pushes ad content to you and they get paid based on impressions and click through.

I'm sure you've read about privacy concerns from places like facebook or google because they literally stalk everything you do and everywhere you go.  They write cookies to your PC and they also store stuff based on your IP address.   Companies like google/facebook then sell this valuable data to advertising companies to provide you "relevant" content.  For example I was researching a new weed eater last week and everywhere I go I get spammed with ads from Husqvarna, Stihl, and Echo weed eaters no matter what site I go to.  Foxnews, youtube, anywhere i go it's wall to wall weed eaters.  I searched on a piece of network equipment before that and every site I'd go to would spam me with network test equipment.

Purely from a business standpoint the whole idea is to give you ad content that's most relevant to you.  If you're a 22 year old college kid it's probably not a good idea to give you ads for wheelchairs.  Same story if you're 75 years old and they're giving you ads for skateboards.

Now, how to fix it.  You can often reset a lot of the data by simply clearing your cookies.  If you want to be more aggressive (cover your eyes BT) you can install an addon called adblock plus for firefox or chrome.

So all that being said, you or somebody else likely searched for or sent/received an email about weight loss at some point in time in the past so they're trying to target you with weight loss stuff.  I seem to get a steady compliment of standard triathlon type ads on BT personally.

This is spot on. Besides cookies you should also clear your history and cached data. On most browsers you can set this to happen automagically when the browser is closed.

Once you clear your cookies, you need to stop searching for granny panties and Dr. Oz. Even if it is out of character, you need to do some manly searches about guns, beer, and trucks.

Interesting. Looking back, I think it's the "Dr. Oz" that got the ads coming our way on the home PC, but I can safely say that it wasn't in a search for ways to lose weight........we seem to always be trying to find ways to eat more! We burn enough calories in a day to keep our house powered up if we could harness the energy.

I'll try some of the remedies so I don't go blind.

I went into the pool area (as this was a pool swim) and got body marked. That's when it hit me that I was there to race - this was not a clinic.

The one-arm drill. This drill will help you with body rotation, breathing, and pull. It also isolates one arm so you can really concentrate on what that arm is doing through the whole stroke cycle.
