2 months to go to LP...the swim has been going really well. I've hit 4200 yds twice now with no issues. Been swimming 3 times a week, however, I'm considering dropping to 2 swims (a good interval session and a longer swim) to add a bike workout. I'm going to swim about 1:15 to 1:20...I just wasn't sure I could do much more to improve that in the next 2 weeks.

I am also considering trying to get 2 or 3 private swim lessons in early June/July. I was thinking that would be of much better benefit than just swimming more. Thoughts?

Thanks...

Of the 3 events, which is your strongest? I would start there.

If you are a strong swimmer, but weaker biker, that would make the choice easy. But it were reversed, that would answer your question as well.

How much improvement are you going to see from 1 extra day of cycling?

I am only going to swim two days a week for my ironman training. I am a 2:00/100m swimmer. Have been pretty much since I started. I am good with that. No matter how much I swim I don't seem to get any faster. I am going to spend more time on the bike.

No, you probably won't get much faster. You should still keep swimming 3x/wk.

In my plan as a first timer.

I am only doing hard swims (full distance) 2 x a week with 1 light short (1000m) recovery swim 1 x a week after my long runs.

Lots of cycling and running instead.

Hope that helps somewhat.
