Total Time = 2h 41m 29s
Overall Rank = 496/1264
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 45/102
Event warmup:

Dynamic Warm-up routine from Bobby McGee
Swim
  • 31m 20s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 05s / 100 meters
Comments:

Best swim I've had. I like the new start. Had clear water for most of the race. Had no issues siting. Only had to stop once to clear goggles.
Transition 1
  • 03m 26s
Comments:

All kinds of issues. Missed my row. Had problems with the suit, getting my run belt on (too large as I loaned to it a teammate at Ragnar Wasatch Back).
What would you do differently?:

Double check all equipment no matter how small. Begin to learn the shoe clipped in technique
Bike
  • 1h 15m 58s
  • 42 kms
  • 33.49 km/hr
Comments:

Tough hill. Without the climb average cadence would have been closer to 90. Good ride but not as good as I thought. Climb up Old Stage was tough. Did not make up as much time on the decent due to 35mph speed limit. Thought I had a consistent ride for the rest of the ride but avg MPH was down. Was looking for closer to 21 mph rather than the 18.4.
What would you do differently?:

Keep training. Maybe I could have come up out of the saddle. I stayed seated during the entire ride including the climb.
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Had problem racking bike. Need to tilt rear water bottles more to provide clearance.
What would you do differently?:

Practice feet out of shoes technique.
Run
  • 48m 45s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 52s  min/mile
Comments:

Thought I had a better pace. Was shooting for 7:30. Must have been tired from bike. Could have been a fuel issue.
What would you do differently?:

Set my watch to track run pace. I should have picked it up.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk to bring down heart rate and cool down. Temps had started to rise.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Could have been pre-race fueling. Will look at new products on the market. Could stand to lose about 7 - 10 pounds to get closer to 160.

Event comments:

Love the new start method. Don't like the bike finish (not the normal finish which has been modified to account for road construction). The climb up Old Stage is challenging - may have taken a lot out of me - more than I thought.
