Comments:

Had a 3 way battle coming into the water with another girl and a guy. we were swimming right over one another. eek.
What would you do differently?:

good swim. I was out near the front so there wasnt much of a drafting chance. However, I would have relaxed a little more at about 500-700- yards and sat on the guys hip and liet him pull me instead, then charged the last 100.

What would you do differently?:

  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

HHmm. started out pretty slowly. it was 17:00 exactly to 1.5 but I came back in closer to 15. I really picked up the pace, shortened my stride. I felt like I was waivering, but i was going FORWARD not up so i went faster.
What would you do differently?:

go faster again? wear socks.
Post race
Warm down:

walking around, stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the chain issues. trying to pick up speed on the run.

Event comments:

The course was great. Wish I could have found out PRIOR to the race. The course was not marked by the evening before, nor were maps or directions available. ...major disappointment. I like to drive or ride the bike and run courses prior to the race and this was not possible. While the venue was beautiful, the water in the swim was so murky there was NO visability .. like in a dark room with a blanket over your head.

Hats off to the volunteers on the bike course helping to control traffic. They did a great job. It was an open course, but they had intersection held up for us.

When shifting, make sure to only shift one set of gears at a time......shift from the big chain ring to the small chain ring and then shift your rear into the ring you want. If doing both at the same time there is a good chance that you will lose your chain. Maybe sacrifice that extra 1mph(if that) at the bottom of the hill and shift into the correct gear to start climbing before you get there so that you are really able to carry your speed into and up the hill and not have to worry about shifting into a climbing gear while trying to climb.
