  • 01m 15s / 100 yards
Comments:

No big deal, didn't push the hardest.
Transition 1
  • 04m 45s
Comments:

Made a decision to go to porta potty out of water. Good decision since sometimes have trouble peeing on bike.
What would you do differently?:

try to pee in water, but since it was not a floating start didn't get chance
Bike
  • 2h 36m 14s
  • 56 miles
  • 21.51 mile/hr
Comments:

wanted to keep steady pace and not overdo it for the first half. Looking back should've pushed the first 15 miles a tad more
Transition 2
  • 04m 43s
Comments:

Didn't pee on bike so I went to porta potty, good decision. After I realized I forgot my bottle of EFS that I carry on run with me. I contemplated whether to run the extra 30" back to bike for bottle, which was good decision since I like to run with drink. cost me an extra minute
What would you do differently?:

don't forget run bottle when rack bike, since transition area was big
Run
  • 1h 44m 5s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

wanted to go sub 8 on run and feel good for entire. Knew I needed to run around a 1:45 to go sub 5 for race. felt great for first 7 miles then slight twinge in leg kicked in. made sure to take salt tabs and refill bike bottle I carried. stomach also didn't feel the best but it was okay. last mile was 7:25 pace to ensure I went sub 5.
Post race
Warm down:

had a few beers and a piece of pizza. watched some friends finish.

Some mistakes I made during the Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Don't be caught out on the course not knowing how or not having the equipment to change a flat tire.
