Already calling for a little snow this week.
After next weekends 50 mile run I will need to take it easy for a while so don't know if I will get many points.

i'm guessing my suckitude score will truely not suck because they just revised the long term winter forecast for DC and saying little snow and fairly mild - which means, it will either be that or snowmageddon

I'm back for another year and my weather next week is calling for 6 days of rain snow mix with high with winds. Bring on the cold, I'm ready for something better than 4th this year.

I will not be participating, mostly because I'm a wuss... Yesterday it was 45 degrees when I went running and even bundled up in my warm running clothes I couldn't handle it!

Hey, I'd like to join this. It will give me some motivation to be out running. Let me get this straight.... you calculate your score and post it somewhere each time you run/bike/swim outdoors. Where do you post it?
Does it make a difference how long you're out? Is there a minimum time?

I'm interested. In the winter I run, bike commute and cross country ski. When does the challenge start and end? Is the spreadsheet posted somewhere?
This might make me ride my bike on some mornings when transit is tempting.

Recovery from last weekend 50 mile is going good, just in time for this to start. Looks like we might even get some crappy weather this weekend.

Is it sick that I am excited?

Another Canadian (Winnipeg) here as well. I have been riding all this week to work and back. Coldest was -12 C (10.4F) on my ride in to work. All other days have been below zero (32.0 F). I run outside everyday regardless of temps or wind or rain or snow.
I am looking forward to seeing how this goes.

I am using that website for my temperature and wind speed conversions.

Based on those numbers I will never have a chance unless I hit the lottery and can move to Yampa Valley/Steamboat Springs - not that I did anyway, but once and a while I could keep up with an ambitious Nov/Dec

A few questions...

What activities count towards points? Running and biking are obvious but what about XC skiing? downhill skiing? walking the dog?
This afternoon on the bike the temperature was above 40 F, but the wind was enough to get into the wind points. Based on the formula this will produce some points - is this correct?
Garmin Autopause on "Off" or "When Stopped"? (I normally use When Stopped but I figure that if I didn't have GPS I'd just use the total time so I have changed this to Off. Hey, I'll take every point I can get.)
Is the spreadsheet posted?

This is sick - I think I'm going to end up planning some of my exercise for the colder times of the day instead of the warmer times.

Thanks
Don

Okay, here's my first entry. I ran 64 minutes with a temp. 0 C (32 F) with a north wind of 20 km/hr so I calculate 64 points. So what do I do with it? Is there a place to enter it?

You have to meet the temp requirement before you move on to the wind, rain or snow.

That's a good question. I've got a week of outdoor camping coming up in February that could blow the top off the chart if it was allowed. And February in Northern Ontario is going to hit big in temperature points.

A couple of photos...
Winter arrived in Calgary on the weekend - perfect timing for this challenge. The bike with Calgary in the background is from my commute this morning. The mountain photo is from cross country skiing last December - looking forward to more scenery like this soon.
