Honolulu Triathlon
Sunny
Total Time = 2h 57m 4s
Overall Rank = 531/851
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 86/108
Pre-race routine:

Show up early because parking is a hassle if you don't. That leaves plenty of time to get your bearings as well
Swim
  • 34m 8s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

As usual, didn't do a very good job of navigating which can be perilous if you wander into oncoming traffic!
Otherwise it was a really good swim for me.
What would you do differently?:

Definitely need to work on navigating especially when I get winded.
Transition 1
  • 03m 47s
Comments:

Leisurely but pretty good.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 42s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.95 mile/hr
Comments:

Still need to work on my bike stamina but pretty good with the overall pace.
What would you do differently?:

Just need to practice more.
Transition 2
  • 03m 57s
Comments:

Not a bad idea to get a breather and take your time getting set for the run.
Run
  • 56m 31s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 06s  min/mile
Comments:

Wow! I was really happy with this run and passed quite a few people which is highly unusual for me. No complaints here.
Post race
Event comments:

Really a fun race with great support and a well organized event. The post-race was a lot of fun and there was more to do than the typical race on Oahu. I highly recommend it and would only advise that you get there early to park.

I looked at the swim buoys and start thinking, "Man! How am I ever going to swim that? That looks like a very long distance from the bridge. I have never done it in one go." There's no turning back.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

Experts agree, doing a “mock,” triathlon on the course you’re racing can aid you in your training; performance and most of all quell some nervous energy.
