Comments: The race isn't chipped timed, so this was from my own watch. It took about 1.5 minutes to reach the start line and of course everyone was improperly seeded. I passed about 200 people it felt like, including people walking within the first 1/2 mile, dogs, strollers, etc. But, I felt like it was really easy and I was glad for that. Mission accomplished. The only part that I really "tried" to run well was the section with a few hills around mile 2. I kept my head down and shortened my stride and went for it. This is where the crowd finally thinned out and the unfortunate downside was I lost my wind block and it was chilly again. Near the finish I saw two girls wearing homemade fleece skirts. I was totally going to make something like that on Friday (as a butt warmer but also Valentine's themed) and didn't, now I am jealous. Next time! I'll pick up some green fleece for the March race. ![]() Post race
Warm down: After I finished I made my way to the portapotties and skipped the water, food. I had to go for the entire race, but they had removed all the portapotties from the park for winter. I never understand this because they don't do it everywhere, just happened to be all gone at this park. The ones the race brought in were very tippy, I almost fell over inside. Then I headed back out for another run. It was hard to get warmed back up again after the short break, but I was ok within a half mile so I decided to do 2 extra miles in total. I am SOOO glad I did this while I was already dressed, etc. It was a successful race & experience. Last updated: 2013-12-05 12:00 AM

Did it right this time. I dropped my car off near the race and then went to breakfast with Bob. He dropped me back off at the car and I sat in the warmth until 5 minutes before the race. I still left the car a bit too early since I had to wait at least 5 minutes after walking down and climbing over a snow hill to get into the chute.
I put myself about 20 feet behind the 10:00/mile and over sign. My goal was to keep this SUPER easy so I could run more later and also not get too sweaty. It was very cold but I knew that I would warm up fast.
I was running this as part of the TCM Summit Challenge, so this one race wasn't important to me. Since it was tougher conditions (cold, slippery) I just wanted to do it as an easy training run. I find this is so much more fun than racing it! :)
