![]() ![]() | ![]() After being a ball of nerves for the last two days I woke up this morning calm and feeling good. I saw the swim course last night, then drove the part of the bike course that I was not familiar with and my anxiety just kind of melted away. We got this guys. We have all trained for it, now it's time to go out and have some fun. Good luck all. Race your race and be safe |

I will add, I had a ball, I missed my stretch goal time by a couple minutes, but for my first HIM I am happy. Now I just gotta go find the official results. Hope everyone had a great day! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, I didn't hit my goal, but I was still really happy with my effort... Swim was rough. I swallowed a lot of water and was just hoping that I didn't make myself sick. Both hamstrings cramped up and I couldn't move my legs...Thank god it was only 200m out or who knows what I would have done.. I actually spoke to a few people who cramped up too, one of which got pulled from the course after he stretched out on a paddler's board and then cramped up again. (My guess is sitting in that hot sun for 3 hours and then jumping into freezing water has something to do with it.) Time: 39:41 Goal: 40:00 Bike was very windy and had way more climbing than I expected...It just didn't seem like I had any time to relax. Either I was climbing, going into the wind or trying not to blow over. This took a lot out of me. I'm normally ready to run when I get of the bike, but after this ride I was literally telling myself that I was going to have to walk the run... Time: 2:54:25 Goal: 2:40:00 I Walked into transition defeated. Watching everyone jog their bikes in while I didn't have it in me sucked...I switched into my running gear, taking my time, and used the bathroom. I somehow mustered up a "run"...At this point I was thinkink 5 minute run, 1 minute walk just to get through to the end. Luckily after 5 minutes, or so, my legs loosened up. I never pushed the pace, but I stayed pretty consistent and emptied the tank the last 3 miles. Time: 1:49:25 Goal: 1:45:00 Transition times sucked. but the long run into T1 and my lack of energy in T2 added to that... Total Time: 5:30:52 Goal: 5:15:00 |

![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This was a very rough race for me, swim was just so windy and like swimming in a washing machine I miscaluclated the number of buoys so I thought I was supposed to be done 2 buoys before I was so with like 25 yards to the shore ripped my goggles off in frustration to where is the shore. Bike was rough so windy and I ended up throwing up on the bike around mile 48 then just had to gut it out to t2. Ended up walking the first 2 miles to settle my stomach before I could run. I mean this race is a nice locale, and is fun but they really should go with a 7am start instead of the noon. Had we started at 7am we would have avoided most of the wind as the wind picks up throughout the day from what I've heard. |
