Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 13m 51s
Overall Rank = 81/522
Age Group = 40-44M
Age Group Rank = 12/58
Pre-race routine:

Up around 415am. Did a final double-check of gear and made a peanut butter sandwich. God to site and wandered aimlessly, back to car, wandered, back to car, lather-rinse-repeat. Ate 1/2 PB sandwich around 530am and 1/2 banana around 7am.
Event warmup:

Only warmup was rotator cuff stretches/warmups.
Swim
  • 07m 6s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water temp wasn't too bad. Likely could have skipped the wetsuit and shaved time from T1. Might have gone out a little hot as my arms felt a little weak.
What would you do differently?:

Probably nothing.
Transition 1
  • 02m 16s
Comments:

Still taking too long in transition for these short races. It's time to through a little urgency in there.
What would you do differently?:

Pick up the pace.
Bike
  • 39m 8s
  • 12.8 miles
  • 19.63 mile/hr
Comments:

Still absolutely suck on the hills. Don't get it as anytime I bike from home I have to climb out of the river bottoms which means plenty of hills. I've taken to upping my HR on the hills even when going for a Z2 ride. Popped the chain with an ill-timed gear shift near the top of a hill; cost me 20-30sec.
What would you do differently?:

T.I.T.S. Just not there as a biker. Wanted 20mph avg but didn't quite get it. In order to compete, I need to get to the 21-23mph range... Don't know if that will ever happen.
Transition 2
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

Overall a better transition, but... Still taking too long in transition for these short races. It's time to through a little urgency in there.
What would you do differently?:

Pick up the pace.
Run
  • 23m 43s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Not bad. Like usual, probably could have gone a little harder. I'm always afraid of over-doing it and not being able to finish appropriately.
What would you do differently?:

Need to figure out how to pick up the pace without burning out.
Post race
Warm down:

Didn't really do anything other than some toe touches.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Brain and training.

Event comments:

Well run. They did a good job considering the weather.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!
