IM 70.3 Texas, when/does it sell out?

I'm considering IM 70.3 Texas in April 2015 but I'm also going to see about registering for the Boston Marathon as well which is the week prior. If IM 70.3 Texas doesn't fill up too fast historically, I can wait until after BM registration to decide especially if I don't get in since I didn't qualify by much. BM is much more important but I would like to do IM 70.3 TX with my friend who's invited me if I can get in before it closes. Thanks! |

It first sold out in 2012 (thanks to Lance) about a week or two before the race. 2013 it sold out a month or so before the race. This past year it sold out a couple of months before the race. I'm not sure how 2014 will go. They had to move the race three weeks later because Easter falls on the usual first Sunday in April date (April 5th next year). I'm assuming the next two weeks were booked up in Galveston so the race is April 26th. That puts it three weeks from Ironman Texas. Many people do both races and my guess is that most (if not all) of those doing IMTX will not do TX70.3. |

On the other hand I've heard a couple people say that it falls at the beginning of their taper so why not, but yes the timing should put a sizable dent in dual participation. |

I've done Galveston the last 3 years and won't be racing next year because it is 3 weeks before IMTX. 3 weeks out is usually my last big weekend so Galveston is horrible timing for me. I'm willing to bet many others feel the same way. |
