Course recon trip is booked. Going to make it a family getaway and go up there for 4th of July weekend (Thursday through Sunday) with another family. Figure at minimum I'll get to ride and run one loop each and maybe get in a swim or second run of part of the course.

Haven't done any other planning yet but if anyone's got recommendations for things to do with the family I'd love to hear. Between both families we will have 5 kids with us ages 2 through 7.

okay I'm here for motivation .... encouragement ... positive vibes.

I've had two back to back super low volume training weeks. Mostly because of Ragnar Florida which took some recovery not because of the volume but because of the lack of sleep followed immediately by a weekend of travel for a kid event.

Yesterday driving home from the kid competition I was feeling defeated mentally and lazy physically and behind the ball on training for IMLP. We got home late and I intended to get up early and hit the trainer and totally slept through my alarm. Not good. But, I just finished my bike trainer run brick and I'm hoping that this is the start of some very focused training efforts for the next few weeks before the next forced upheaval which is the kiddos spring break.

How is everyone else doing with their training?

Amy,

Don't worry about a few missed sessions. Especially when recovery is needed. I had a couple of weeks where things got shuffled around last year while training for IMLP. Plenty of time for things to come back in line and get your mojo back.

I am in for IMLP. A bit late getting to this thread. Will be my second (IMCDA in 2013). Will be with friends who are doing their first. Anyone done CDA? Comparison?

wow my training has been so up and down. 2-3 good weeks followed by some kind of disaster lol. sick/vacation/unwillingness to drive thru a foot of snow at 530 on a -10 morning lol. But on the + side I'm not over trained.

137 days left and the sun is finally shining in NE Ohio. Time to get the road bike out and get off the trainer tonight. 46 degrees feels like a heat wave.

So, it's almost the end of March. Last week I had my highest volume training week yet. I'm feeling physically tired (and first handful of outside runs made me tight and sore) and now starting to feel mentally tired too. This week is a lighter/easier week to recover from the fatigue, but for the first time I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by what's to come in the next 4 months. I could just be moping a bit because in the northeast we just got through back into 20/30 degree temps after a tease of spring.

My training has been all around solid though.

How's everyone else doing?

Im grinding through it. It has been crazy hard to stay motivated with such a CRAPPY late winter/spring. I still havent run outside

Been doing a lot of treadmill and trainer work. I think I really benefit from trainer work as I'm way more focused than out riding through the hills and farm land of central new york.

I'm still struggling with the pool. Only making about 2x/week...I will be in the 1:20ish survival mode to start lake placid AGAIN lol

On a non triathlon note this winter has driven me to seek employment elsewhere. I had an interview in Tampa last week. I did not get the job but my butt will be in florida before next fall...one way or the other

One man's floor is another man's ceiling . . . I just started swimming 2x week and that's a step up for me and I had to pull some strings to make it happen. I've gotten through 7 yrs of tri including a few HIMs almost entirely on swimming 1x per week.

Yup. 4 months. I'm just back from a week of family vacation. Nothing quite like a week off to set me into training panic mode.

So the first day back I did a century ride (yes, overkill) and today I dutifully got to the pool for my swim.

So, feeling back on track!

Just got the bike serviced and looking forward to the spring! I have been out on the bike a few times, but in NE Ohio it is still cold and a challenge to get outside. Did run in shorts this morning and didn't totally freeze! 117 days!

Don't be too impressed. First I live in Miami so I ride outside almost all year long. And we have no hills so 100 miles of flatland is different than anywhere else.

Second, it was a supported ride so we had frequent and wonderful stops to recharge. I took advantage of those lemme tell you. And I'm pretty sure we were the last ones to finish ... maybe there were one or two more after us but not many. But other than that be as impressed as you want :-)

Hey 100 miles is 100 miles! A supported ride IS nice though. I did a long ride 2 summers ago I had 2 bottles on my bike, 3 in my jersey, and a camel back and still ran out of water before I was done

I'm not doing the race this year, but wish you all luck. I'm from around the area, and stopped by yesterday to get my bike gearing all changed. People were playing hockey on Mirror Lake. Hard to imagine you guys will be swimming there in 4ish months!

Holy cow erin, just looked at your profile and saw you did syracuse 70.3 in 5:03...that is impressive! Nice job...its a pretty tough course and you crushed it.
