Comments:

Fast out and back. Since it was only 6.5 miles I just went hard. I pedaled just hard enough that my legs did not cramp up. It was cold and my hands numbed up, but not so bad that I couldn't grab my bottle and sip.

Had to pass a lot of people who probably should not have started in wave 1! My goal was to go fast but not burn out my legs. I think I did that well. Goal was ~110% of FTP so 228 watt normalized power. WKO shows norm power of 220 so right on target.

Warm down:

Walked around for 10 minutes until my HR was down to 110 or so. Drank some hot tomato soup. Gathered up my stuff and took off.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training.

Event comments:

I think TBF puts on great events. This one was not timed since it was low cost and a charity event. Look forward to the next one that is timed.

For most people, there is a story in how they came to the sport as beginners. Some of the most inspiring of those beginner tales begin with health scares.
