Comments:

Had an awesome race. I ran an easy 7:20 pace through mile 8 owing to the monster hill that crests at mile 9 and then found another gear and pushed it.

By the half way point, I was running strong and had dropped everyone I ran up the hill with including the 3:15 pace group. (They went out way too fast)

I executed a strong kick at mile 16 and ran by myself passed runners all the way to the finish. Never really did experience any sort of a fade but did struggle a bit in the final miles running mixed with the Half Marathon Crowd.

Stoked with the result. My target time was a 3:10 and 3rd place was a 3:05 and 5th was a 3:19 so my AG placement was set from the start line. First time breaking into the top 50 for the marathon.

This was my 2nd fastest marathon ever. (Missed my PR by 15 Seconds) it was also a CR by 1:03.

Best of all, it was a BQ by 14:31 (A BQ-10) so I get to register 1 week early for 2016.

Event comments:

This is a very good small race. Course is challenging with 1,100 ft of climbing which suits my strengths well. I live here and train on the course so it is sort of a no brainer for me.

Lol, I don't think I'll ever use 'easy' and '7:20 pace' in the same sentence!  Stellar race and congrats on the BQ!

I signed up for Ironman Frankfurt, next year July - and I am very excited about it. I originally planned to run my first Marathon in the middle of September, but am not sure if this is wise.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.

I can't say it enough, the feeling of treading water for that final minute, helicopters over head, Mike Riley's Iron-voice over the P.A. - just awesome. I cannot believe I'm here!
