Comments:

Very challenging trail run. First mile is very scenic bluff run along the ocean then it heads up the first peak. After a very steep climb to the top it's back down to sea level for an aid station then up the second peak, which is not as steep.

I walked much of the ascents and steep descents, only managed to run about half the course.
What would you do differently?:

Train more trail running!
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched legs and enjoyed some BBQ on the beach!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of trail running experience.

Event comments:

Well organized trail run event.

Great job, I love running there.  Granted, I've only done the bluff trail, and never into the hills!

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
