Comments: This is a major PR for the distance and a total surprise. Intentionally trained through the week, with the thought of racing the race whatever. Goal is under 52. Went out fast - the race was small enough and enough space to where I did not get caught up in the first half mile. Second mile was also under 8 and I started thinking I might have something for them. I felt very racy heading into the morning. Mile 3 had a good climb but the time was good. I started to realize two things: I was short .04 (cut a few corners but it was a race and my home turf) and sub 50 minutes was within reach. Mile 4 and Mile 5 were tough, especially 5. I was starting to pay for the fast start. But I crushed mile 6. Biggest problem bringing it home ws that at 5.8 miles we merged withe 5k course. I was much faster than the 5kers so I was weaving like mad. Plenty of space but it was distracting, especially the girl who all of sudden started sprinting at the end of her 5k. What would you do differently?: Second Pr in 14 days, set new marks for the 5k and 10k distance in the last two weeks. Racing courses you know creates confidence. Finished 3rd in my AG by 3 seconds. Post race
Warm down: Right as I finished a woman passed out from the 5k; it was warm out ther. So it was a little chaotic. Grabbed some water and started to get my heart back in my chest. Watched another young woman literally throw up at tend finish line. Found my daughter who won her AG and waited. Did get a great stretch from my chiro - she is just plain amazing What limited your ability to perform faster: I guess I could have rested more the week before. Event comments: Tons of volunteers; tons of food and drinks. Even Hugo the Hornet came out. Over 800 folks for the 5k. Great race and a great cause. Last updated: 2015-05-11 12:00 AM

The race is literally in my backyard. Can hear the start line from bedroom. Third year, first for the 10k. The Jetton sprint is usually the same day but cancelled this year due to construction. So I signed my daughter up for the 5k and I for the 10k.
Up before 7; ate my typical oatmeal and out the door by 7:30. It is maybe a 7 minute walk to the start line.
Ran into a good friend who was doing the 5k. Did a little activation and time to line up
