Pre-race routine:

I was supposed to do this race with Dylan and possibly push Marek in the stroller. Dylan's heel was hurting so we decided that I would run by myself. Did absolutely nothing to warmup or stretch or anything because I had planned on running/walking at his pace.

Comments:

Started out in top 5 or so and was just running really easy. 2 young kids were sprinting out in front and dropped back by probably half a mile. Me and 2 other guys were at the front and I was 1-2 steps ahead of them. I told myself not to push it and just enjoy running. I followed my advice, but the others couldn't keep up with me. It's always fun leading the entire race and setting the pace for the group. I didn't want to win because I didn't want to have to stick around for the awards because we needed to get home to meet Steve to look at the bathroom. I tried slowing down towards the end, but no one was close to me to take over 1st.
What would you do differently?:

Apparently nothing. I finished with a really good time. Maybe even a PR since high school, but I'll have to check on that. Hopefully that would be true and not that the course wasn't correct. But timing was done by Run Far, so hopefully the distance was legit.

In November of 2000, I noticed that I was losing the feeling in my toes. The sensation traveled up my body and within a week, I was nearly 80% paralyzed.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had weight issues. I remember standing on the scale as a child weighing 60 pounds and feeling fat. My family dealt with stress by eating.
