Pre-race routine:

Traveled to NH a week before the race. Had a started to come down with a cold so took it easy for the week. Race morning I had a cliff bar, banana and water.

Make way to race and set up transition area
Event warmup:

Swam a couple hundred yards and stretched
Swim
  • 09m 31s
  • 550 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started to the far left on the start and got pushed out a little wider than I would like to. Had to speed up a bit to get inside After rounding the first bouy it was stop and go as we were swimming into high traffic and toward the sun. People kept stopping and this would cause a chain reaction. Finally got some open water on the swim in and swam until my fingers hit the ground.

A little slower than I would have liked but satisfied
What would you do differently?:

Not to much
Transition 1
  • 03m 22s
Comments:

Lots f trouble clipping in
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 54m 1s
  • 15 miles
  • 16.66 mile/hr
Comments:

Tried to conserve for the rest of the bike and the run, but went a little slower than I should have. Slowest bike this year
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder
Transition 2
  • 01m 56s
Comments:

Stopped and stretched a little before heading out
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 26m 28s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Got passed a lot but felt like I was moving okay. My watch crapped out so I had no idea of pace. Run comfortably hard and then lengthened my stride on the downhill

with a half mile to go I pushed a little harder. Maybe left a little extra in the tank
What would you do differently?:

push a little harder
Post race
Warm down:

started a two day drive back home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

myself

Event comments:

Good event. Would do it again. All athletes got a finishers medal, towel, and technical T

Are these races too close together to give me any sort of recovery? Will I be spent and unhappy racing back to back weekends and then again two weeks after that?

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.
