Wore wet suit. Swim training this year was close to non-existent. Established a comfortable endurance pace and stuck with it.

HR monitor quit about an hour into the ride. Paced by feel. Kept things very comfortable and felt fresh and strong the whole race.

Slowest IM "run" ever! Job change in April killed my run training. slogged it out with lots of walking. New going into the race that this would be the case.

My race report is different. My motivating factors go back seven years. I have lived in denial for seven years. Depression. I registered for Ironman Texas even though I felt like a complete failure.

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?

I never imagined that 350 yards broken down into 7 REALLY long lanes would be so big! I gasped out loud and told Grady that maybe I had underestimated the swim.
