Age Group Rank = 35/48
Pre-race routine:

Camping Overnight - Up early for banana and eggs on toast.
Event warmup:

Got some limited time warming up in the lake. Most time wasted on finding last minute hydration solutions (bike bottle left at home) and trying to go #2.
Swim
  • 17m 41s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 22s / 100 meters
Comments:

Form had dropped off from early season. Drank too much pre race and needed to burp badly.
What would you do differently?:

Not overdrink pre race.
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Better run up to T1 than previous attempts on this course.
What would you do differently?:

Go sockless? Maybe?
Bike
  • 1h 02m 22s
  • 30 kms
  • 28.86 km/hr
Comments:

Dodgy mixed gel drink was very nice! Maybe I need caffeine in all my bike bottles.
Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

Needed a pee.
What would you do differently?:

Two piece suit for peeing.
Run
  • 40m 29s
  • 7 kms
  • 05m 47s  min/km
Comments:

Did just fine. No annoying leg tightness. Aid stations out of supplies.
Post race
Warm down:

Dip in the lake and cycle back to the camp site. Cycle back really helps the legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Same old lack of consistent training. Too fat.

Event comments:

Hot day. Awful roads but good crowds and fun having family on the site.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

I found a sprint, the Lake Las Vegas Triathlon, that was happening four months down the road and signed myself up; much to the surprise of friends and family.

Should I remove the PD Jammers bars and ride it as is, set-up for riding in the drops and hoods? Should I run my Easton Orion II wheels or my Hed Jet60 C2's for IMWI?

I've had shoulder problems since the very beginning of tri training. I did see an ortho who took x-rays and said I have a type II acromioin. I'd love to know some stretches to help my flexibility.

What is it that brought me to my knees one Sunday morning and then kicked me into a hole of self loathing and apparent depression? My apparent salvation was my old blue Fuji Royale II.
