Anyone use the Fenix 3 as their Tri watch? Im thinking of getting away from the 910 and 920 and move in to the fenix series. Any pros or cons people have found with training and racing with the Fenix. please let me know. Thanks

My husband has a Fenix 3 that he uses for mtb and he loves it.  He never intended to wear it as an everyday watch but it's very comfortable and he has transitioned to wearing it all the time.  He also really likes the notifications from his phone.

I can't offer any tri tips beause he's a single sport athlete.

I do. I love it. I never owned a 910 or 920, so can't really compare, but if something were to happen to mine I'd get another one.

Aside from the screen being round and that it lacks a quick disconnect feature (well, there is one, but apparently it's intolerable to use), I've not heard any complaints when compared to the 920. Personally, I have zero complaints about the watch. I've used it for running indoors, running outdoors, trail running, biking indoors, biking outdoors, pool swimming, bricks, walking, hiking, and snow skiing. I've used the HRM RUN, and the bike speed & cadence sensors and never had issues with them.

I've also pre-programmed courses into the watch for cycling which has been helpful on new routes. You can also get a golf app for it now if you play which is a bonus for me.

Back to your original question, however, I've never used it in an actual triathlon since I just got it at Christmas. My first one is coming up in June. I am very confident it will work flawlessly in that race.

x2. Never thought I'd wear the thing every day, but now I just grab it without thinking about it.

When my 910 died, I replaced it with a Fenix 3. The Fenix is a far superior watch. The battery lasts much longer, and you can use it as a watch without the GPS. It picks up satellites faster. Sometimes with the 910, I would get frustrated in a race because I had to hold the buttons down so hard to get it to go between sports. The Fenix is easier. Also, I like that the default screen for each sport in a triathlon is the same as the default screen for the individual sports--I never could get the 910 set up to display the way I wanted on race day.

Also, as someone who trail runs, cross-country skis, mountain bikes...the Fenix is much more versatile.
