My last km was faster than any of the others!
What would you do differently?:

I would be mentally prepared better. I was very nervous!

Event comments:

I was terrified to do my first half marathon but I had a wonderful time and am proud of my finishing time!
The organizers are fantastic and encouraging and were easily accessible to answer my questions in the days leading up to the race.
I would do this again in a heartbeat

Congratulations! A bit late for the race report though

Now you have set the time, and only 26 seconds and you will be under 2 hours. There is your motivation for the next race.

I am from Winnipeg as well. I do the WPS, WFPS and the Hypo halfs. I also ran a leg in the MB Marathon with my niece this year. Like you said, it was crazy hot and humid. It was me and three 12 years old girls. We kicked butt.

Great blog as well. Have fun racing the local tri scene. I do some of the races and officiate at a few others.

Definitely a little slow on the race report...but not as slow as my ones from a year ago!!!
Life got busy, what can I say

I'm super pumped to run it again next year but maybe with some different shoes because my toenail is still a lovely shade of purple

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

Having three seasons under my belt I thought I knew what I was doing. That all changed with a few new challenges and a bunch of new friends.

This program should be used for an athlete whose goal is to run a marathon in the 1:30-2:30 range and has a good running base in the past 8-12 weeks.

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.
