I just bought a wetsuit long john style.

The top is perfect but the legs are a bit too long. Aside from finding the perfect fit, I wonder what is the better option:

Racing with the wetsuit ending at mid foot
or having little folds at the ankle..

Anybody raced with a wetsuit which is a tad too long cares to comment...

A lot of folks will cut them. Will make it easier to get on and off.

Will hurt resale slightly but not much.

Thanks, it may not be a bad idea...

This wetsuit has a zipper at the ankle. If I cut it, I would have to cut it near the calf.

You see a reason not to do it? aside from the "look good factor" or the resale value? I have zero experience with wetsuits...

Yep, cut it!

I know my wetsuit recommended not to cut past where they have seam tape in place, so look into that, but otherwise that is the best option!

most wetsuits will have a reinforcement on the inside 7 or inches high. it is fine to cut it in the reinforced area.

I cut mine up about 4 inches to make it easier to get off.

I cut my wetsuit to end mid calf at an angle so the front is slightly longer than the back. Pretty much all the ITU Elites do this.

I'm doing my first tri Saturday. It starts at 7 AM and the forecast is calling for a high of 82 (air temp). Do I need to rush out and get a wetsuit?

Most of those thinking about tackling a long swim instinctively feel it’s necessary to Do much to build endurance - more yards, harder laps. But a focus on Receiving is ideal for long distances.

The Elite wetsuit was redesigned four times before going to the market in order to maximize its benefits. Does all this speed come at the expense of comfort? I had to find out.
