Swim
Comments: Swim felt pretty good. I seeded myself well and didn't get passed or pass anyone. This year I opted to use the ladder to get out, which was MUCH easier than last year's display of my physical grace!! What would you do differently?: push a little harder, maybe, but nothing really. Transition 1
Comments: Had a good T1 with no real hiccups or issues. What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Overall, bike went as well as I could expect, given that I've only been riding outside for two weeks and only really for a month total. I'm glad to see that I can hold 15mph avg, which was my goal. Avg Power 172w What would you do differently?: drink more. I only consumed about 1/2 bottle of powerade. Probably could have also eaten a gu near the end, just to help on the run. Transition 2
Comments: I don't know how I did this this fast. I felt like I was in molasses on a cold day. I couldn't get my bike gloves off. I couldn't get my bike shoes off. I opted not to change socks--didn't need to. Put my running hat and belt on as I was beginning the run, which was good. What would you do differently?: Apparently, I did pretty well, even though it didn't feel like it at the time. So, I guess nothing! Run
Comments: The run, as it always does, bit me in the butt. I'm just simply slow. I used a 5:1 run:walk. That was great. I'm not sure I would have done as well if I hadn't. I couldn't keep my HR down, but these are fast splits for me, so that should be expected. I tried to eat some gu blocks at about the 1 mile mark. I cannot chew and run, so I took two during one walk break and two during the next. Need to save those for the bike. What would you do differently?: Probably have my gu/blocks on the bike, not the run. It was gross trying to run an chew at the same time. I'm sure it wasn't pretty for onlookers either! Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, drank some gatorade and water. Sat around waiting for awards What limited your ability to perform faster: lack of training Event comments: This is a fun local race with a great vibe. It would be fantastic as someone's first race. For experienced athletes, it is a good chance at a PR in the sprint distance. The course tends to be fast. RD is awesome. He knows everyone's name (even if it is your first year racing with him) and cheers like heck for everyone the whole race. Last updated: 2017-07-17 12:00 AM

Pretty normal. Got up, ate breakfast (eggs, toast, coffee). Dressed and out the door by 5:30am. Arrived at event site and set up transition (first one, so I got a really good bike spot, right next to bike out). Wandered around and chatted with folks until about 6:45
Entered the pool and swam a total of 300m. Tried practicing lane exchanges, but there were too many people around and I didn't want to run into anyone.
