Happy 2018 everyone! 1000 running miles in a year has been eluding me for the past 3 years and I'm gonna aim for it again this year with more wisdom and reslience! My first running race this year is the LA Marathon and maybe another marathon in December. That should enable me to hit it.

I averaged between 720 and 750 miles per year lately and this is the year I'm gonna break that!

Here's the link:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17VWciD8tPAvVijWJG9mhn3bNpUQk...

Add your mileage and as Don said last year, it doesn't matter if you're a fast or easy paced runner, running or run/walking, you can join. Who's with me?

Roland

I am in for another year. I did really well for the first 10 months but after the Chicago Marathon I let the milage slip. I am back in University with a full course load with labs and November/December were really tough with studying for finals.
I don't plan on doing any triathlons this year, maybe a Olympic distance one later in the season. I am concentrating on running ultras this year. I have a 50k in February and a 50k in May. Money is tight so unless the races are cheap I won't be entering them.

Welcome Dwayne!

I'm not gonna race many triathlons this year myself. Maybe Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz in September if a friend of mine signs up as primer for his Ironman Florida race.

kloofyroland - thanks for getting us going. I've signed up again.
I revised the formulas - I think they're properly set up for 2018 now.

At the moment I'm not really planning to worry too much about a goal of 1000 miles. I'm going to be setting goals for a few different sports, month by month. There's a pretty good chance that I'll reach 1000 miles but I'm giving myself permission not to obsess about it.

Good luck to my fellow challengers.

I'm in again I came nowhere close last year, but this year I have big goals for my marathon PR, so I may have a chance!

I'm off to a rather slow start this year, as I'm nursing a healing ankle/achilles issue. It's getting close to better, but I promised myself another week of no running just to be sure. Could be a bit before I actually add anything to the spreadsheet...

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I'm in, that's if my Neurologist gives me the clear later today. I'm coming off a year of doing almost nothing due to a major health issue.

I'm already trailing behind due to the cold weather here.

I skipped the challenge last year, but will try again this year.  I think the closest I got was about 750 in 2014, but let's see how this year goes!

I failed epically last year (just over 600) but definitely want to try again this year. I'm not doing the typical triathlete sports but instead doing my own tri - running, yoga, and strength training. As an older woman, I've found that yoga and some strength training are just needed for me to be healthier and unfortunately sometimes my running suffers because of it. Oh well, health first. Had a bad cold for the first two weeks of the year but trying to get back to running cuz hubby and I are signed up for 4 races in Tampa, FL at the end of Feb. I'll update the spreadsheet. Looking forward to running with all of you this year.

Welcome back Pam! I know what you mean about yoga and strength training. I noticed if I don't keep up with my ST program, my knees start aching.

I have some pain in my upper left back (since Monday) and it spread to my left pectoral muscle and spread downward today. I hope it's not bad, ugh.... Gonna see my doctor today and find out what's going on. >.<

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I have shingles! However, I'm glad it's something that can be remedied.

My doctor recommends some time off from running until my symptoms go away.

Thanks Pam. I've been taking some antivirals for the symptoms but the pain is debilitating, ugh........

I'm gonna have a followup visit with my doctor tomorrow and hopefully he'll have some good news. I think I'm healing though seeing that I've been on antivirals for the past 7 days.

Doing a little better. Each day that passes now, the nerve pain subsides a tad bit.

I started running super duper short guilty paced runs this week and I think I should be healthy (and fit) enough to run the LA Marathon.

Nice job passing the pace rabbit!

Roland - it's good to hear you are doing better. Good luck with your marathon preparation.

Don, Good job on passing the rabbit!

Roland, have fun at LA marathon. My yoga teacher is running it also.

Hubby and I did Gasparilla Distance Classic this weekend. 15K and 5K on Saturday and HM and 8K on Sunday. Survived but it got pretty ugly on the 4th race. Did hear something that I want to have put on a t-shirt, "Ah, go ahead and pass us. We are hung-over."

I like that saying, hehehe! I might need to be to run the LA Marathon at my current fitness level. Gonna try and carefully brute force a late 20 mile LSD run this weekend. If I feel okay at mile 16, I'm gonna go for it but if not, I'll call it and hope for the best on race day.

Got in some pretty consistent running the past 3 weeks. Not too sure I can pull it off but I'm aiming to finish sub-5 with better pacing that my first marathon in 2014 with a similar finish time, hehe. Plan B will be to finish it no matter what.

Hi Roland
I just Googled LA Marathon. It looks like you're racing one week from today. Good luck!
I'm passing the Pace Bunny most days when I go for a run, and then I get passed on my off days. I need to get a good week in to get ahead of it for good.

The formulas for calculating the bunny pace have been messed up a couple of times. Does anyone have any idea how this is happening?
