Hey BT! Good morning!

6:00am:  recovery stretching + light weights

I survived the Bryce Canyon 50...make that 55K!  They tricked us!  It was an out and back course with the turn around listed at 15.5 miles.  Nope...turnaround was actually at 16.75--I was worried for a solid mile that I was off course but nope!  It was a little deflating knowing I was in for more than 31 miles...but whatevs!  I just kept going.  The entire race was between 7,000ft-9,000ft with a total of about 6,100ft of climbing.  The altitude did not bother me a bit.  All that training I've been doing above 5,500ft definitely helped. Heat didn't bother me either.  In fact nothing bothered me except for some of the climbing--that was rough but just kept putting one foot in front of the other.  Power hiked when I had to, ran when I could.  It was amazing!!!  I really loved the whole day.  The cut off was 11 hours...made it in 10:40 ish.  I stopped my Garmin at the aid stations so my official time was probably a bit slower.

I'm going to attempt to attach some pics!

This week will be recovery, forcing myself to go easy.

What's a little extra distance, Kim? I'm glad you had a blast.

11:40 - 2,000 yards, with some "speed" sets being the main focus. My first tri of the year is this weekend, so this week, I'll be doing shorter stuff with some bursts of speed.

Have a great day and week.

Great job Kim!

Got in a short 30 minute trainer session. Had to borrow a bike from my brother since my Cervelo P2 is out of commission from the rear derailleur hanger mishap Saturday morning. Couldn't get very comfortable on his bike despite trying a quick fit adjustment here and there.

I have a good friend that is a pretty skilled machinist. He is going to look and see if he can come up with something to get it up and running again.

All I can say is WOW! Congratulations on finishing what sounds like a really tough event. I think I would have to be scraped off the ground after 10+ hours of running! Hope you can "force" yourself to take a recovery week or two!

No training to report here. Brief but intense bout of "Ho Chi Minh's revenge" that left me feeling too weak to train yesterday. Feeling better and back at it today (Tuesday already here).
