Good Morning!

I feel very accomplished to have made through this week.  It was a peak week for me with a lot of days with increased volume.  At 5:15 AM today I hit a 90-minute sub-threshold work out on the bike trainer that was made up of 6 x 8' @ 95% FTP.

Have a great day BT.

Yo Yo,

Also feeling accomplished this week.

Got my 20 miles or 60 minutes on the trainer this morning, it was a push to get myself motivated. I will get in the pool at lunch and then start winding down the week. Have a busy week of travel next week, hopefully that doesn't put a big dent in the workouts.

Also next week, I am going to visit with the police officers in Three Rivers that saved my life back in January. They did some serious CPR on me. Should be a fun visit.

Tri Hard today...

Good work guys.

I did a 5k run today at 4:30 PM. Heat index was 102 degrees. Despite that, it was my fastest 5k in a few months and on a hilly route. Guess all the slower Z2 stuff is paying off.

1:50 long run on the bike trail in Sun Valley at about 6000 feet. Felt good except for any upward incline, then felt like I was really sucking air. Or maybe the views en route were just too breathtaking?

I think I could run for days with scenery like that! Beautiful backdrop.

Yep--Last fall with IM training I deliberately scheduled my longest run to take place up there. I think my coach thought I was nuts choosing to do a 3 hour run at 6000 feet, but figured if I could do that, maybe I could do one at sea level after 112 miles on the bike as "warmup". Altitude up to about 9000 feet doesn't affect my pace/HR too much UNTIL I go uphill. Then, unless I'm really acclimatized, just feels like I'm going absolutely nowhere! Luckily this trail is mostly flat, and we sensibly did an out and back with a slight net uphill/downhill respectively.
