I have a back of the mind bucket list item of riding a Century in every state. I don't need the hilliest, hardest, most elevation (but could tackle them if they are intriguing enough). I want fun, scenic, historic but "still serious"

What is the best Century in your state - and why

Thanks

Wisconsin - Door County Century. Beautiful, on the Wisconsin peninsula.

Horribly Hilly Hundred - If you are into that kind of thing.

Thanks for the response.
Door County intrigues me and need to figure out how to make it fit (spring - June -probably works better til my boys graduate high school and my Septembers open up)

As for Horribly Hilly - that is exactly the ride I was thinking of when I said I don't need the hilliest - most elevation gain....

I am targeting something with similar elevation gains for next July though...

My dad signed up the family for a Century Bike ride when I was 13 years old.  When only road to the begals at the first aid station and then came back which put us at about 28 miles.  That is the only charity ride I have ever done so I don't have much insider information on Century rides, but there is the MS 150 in Texas that goes from Houston to Austin.  It is a pretty bike deal and you might consider it if you are okay with doing 150 miles.  :-)   When I lived in Oklahoma I took part in the Free Wheels Bike Tour.  They spend a whole week and ride all the way across the state, but there are options to just do one day and many of the days have century options to ride.

Well, my first Century was 30 years ago - Elephant Rock Century in Castle Rock Colorado.....

They are sunsetting the event this year, so I am kicking off my 50 Centuries in 50 States after 50 with the last E-Rock.

Undertrained overall for it, but if I can get everything together on the bike (new wheelset and switch to a compact chainring from the semi) I should be ok - definitely no speed records. My last century was about 7 years ago.

Not sure when or where #2 will be, but this seemed like a fitting place to start.
=============================================
Still looking for good ideas but here are some of the thoughts - a problem with a lot of these - conflicts with kids in school
-Door County someday (WI)
-Horsey Hundred (KY)
-Tour of the Mississippi River Valley (IA)
-RATPOD (MT)
-Tour de Tuscon (AZ)
-Sante Fe (NM)
-Tru Grit (AR)
- Apple Century (MI)
and of course I have a friend who keeps suggesting I double up in CO with the Team Evergreen Triple By Pass

If you're looking for one in Maryland, the Gran Fondo in September is the way to go.  10K feet of climbing with some timed sections:

Almost all of ours here on in September (I think there are like 4 that I know of, and the other three are flat).

cool, thanks!
goes to show I do not know my east coast geography. My first thought was how do you get 9000 ft of climbing in Maryland
But hey, at least there is oxygen!

Yeah - most of Maryland is flat (eastern shore) or rolling (suburbs of Baltimore and DC) but western Maryland starting with Frederick heading out west is the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains (the trail runs about 15-20 miles west of Frederick).  The higher peaks are in West Virginia but we actually have ski resorts!!

I did a sprint tri last weekend about 30 miles south of DC (16 mile bike leg) with 1400 ft of climbing.

There are a lot of great 100s in NC.

Two that I have done that I recommend are:

1. Tour De Apple (Hendersonville)
2. WNC Flyer (Brevard)

Both are in the western part of the state with some hills.

Tour de Corn in Missouri in June. Flat as heck, but you’ll come home heavier than you left from all the delicious home made goodies at the aid stations—includes corn smothered in butter. It a fun ride!
