Age Group Rank = 2/5
Swim
  • 03m 57s
  • 200 meters
  • 01m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

Used enough effort to coast through the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Warm the calves up before the swim. Locked up on the first wall and remained that way the entire day.
Transition 1
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Too too much time in transition and exiting the pool. Wasn't sure what I wanted out of the day - relaxed fun or pedal to the metal - and the indecision likely added a full minute to transitions and a few spots in the rankings.
Bike
  • 31m 36s
  • 10.32 miles
  • 19.59 mile/hr
Comments:

The post-covid breathlessness started to show up half way through bike as I hit the rolling hills. HR spike into the red and breathing rate accelerated. Down shifted to the smaller ring and backed off the effort. HR never fully recovered but it did help my breathing.
What would you do differently?:

Missed the last turn and had to loop back through someone's yard, but prevented the bike from sliding out from under me as I hit the breaks hard.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Racked and took 2 seconds to decide if I wanted socks - ended up passing. Blister risk over 2 miles is pretty low.
Run
  • 17m 37s
  • 2.1 miles
  • 08m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Run starts with a prolonged uphill. HR was near max at the top but eventually recovered to a normal range by the time I hit the turn around and faced the backside climb. Ending on a downhill was God-sent.
Post race
Event comments:

A good venue for a great cause. Was simply grateful to be competing today and that I was able to complete the race without any health setbacks.
