Overall Rank = 19/120

Age Group Rank = 2/6
Pre-race routine:

Usual routine-up at 5:30am, eat-400cal/coffee/shower/BR/dress-race ready; pack and head out to venue; was able to come back to hotel for shower in the late AM, which was very nice
Event warmup:

got there and got packet; dyslexic body marking gave me #286-but my number was 268 so DW helped me with sanitizer removing the incorrect number and putting on the right one; set up transition in thrid row; looked at the flow; everything in from the left and out to the right; nice touch to add water to rinse feet off before parking area where bikes were racked; pumped tires at car so I didn't have to carry pump; remembered frozen G2 in my aero bottle; body glide and spray legs; wore flip flops and left sneakers in car; headed out and did 5 minute swim warmup to last buoy and back (~80 strokes); chose clear goggles-should have used tinted; checked sighting; I'm ready!

Denise was able to come into transition and came right down to the water and waited with me. Always helps to have her steady calm before the race and rooting for me. Very much appreciated.
What would you do differently?:

nothing really-I had a really good, straight, steady swim with no unusual events.
Transition 1

Comments:

I felt slow but was first in my AG

What would you do differently?:

run faster to get to the sitting position. Roll up socks and go quicker

thought there would be a lot of people to pass on the second loop but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Felt fortunate that there was no rain and less chance of crashing. I had lowered the pressure in my tires to 80/80 anyway.
What would you do differently?:

push a bit more?
Transition 2

Felt slow again and had a big delay of ~30 seconds to pin on my bib since I forgot my race belt-big mistake! Had to have number on to cross finish line so it was important but difference between 1st and 4th was < 2 minutes and I was only 15 sec ahead of 3rd at the finish-hmmmm.

What would you do differently?:

remember all the needed equipment! Still first in my AG again, though

wore my orange Nike Next; felt squishy and nice; tried to push the pace on the final mile; hip was still a bit sore; very fast for me
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

always have trouble breathing and catching my breath for about an hour afterwards; ate some pizza and waited on awards but since I was listed as a female, it was messed up-no award for me!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing

superb race-especially for beginners, my wife is even thinking of doing it next year. Lisa is great and very, very supportive of all but most importantly the beginners. Will definitely do it again.
