Swim
Comments: once I got pass the many breast stroke swimmers, was able to get into a rythm. the floating line meant that I didn't have to look up to see a buoy, just look right when breathing. still very slow, even by my standards. don't know why. probably the chaos at the start What would you do differently?: start at the front in such a race, to avoid the breast strokers Transition 1
Comments: No issues here, tried not to rush it. Bike
Comments: my first try with my heavy mtb. nothing to report Transition 2
Comments: again, took my time. little issue with one sock which I put on upside down What would you do differently?: not roll sock trying to save a milli second, it goes quicker if it's not rolled. Run
Comments: tough start with a lot of climbing. a lot of people walking up. managed to keep running. no pushing here, just enjoyed it. still managed a 5:45 average pace which is OK Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I didn't want to go faster Event comments: fun "amateur" race organized every year to raise awareness (and fund research) for Lou Gehrig's disease Last updated: 2022-07-24 12:00 AM

A popular event, not santctioned by the federation, mostly attended by beginners with some more routined athletes joining in for fun. LotS of ordinary city bikes and mtb (gravel paths on the bike course).
Using this as training and transition practice
got there an hour early, set up my stuff, watched the National anthem being played by 3 guys with electric guitars up on a roof. That was unexpected. fun!
