Overcast
Total Time = 1h 24m 47s
Overall Rank = 154/269
Age Group = 20-24
Age Group Rank = 7/13
Pre-race routine:

Woke up 5:30 took a shower and ate a Banana. Grabed gear etc. went to race site and set up transition area.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 07m 10s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim overall, was bib 321 and I wound up passing big 301 so that was a little frustrating but o-well.
What would you do differently?:

Seed time faster.
Transition 1
  • 04m 19s
Comments:

I knew my T1 was going to be slow, it was a long run from the pool to the bike and it was soooo cold. Had a tough time getting my underarmor on. Still hard to run with those bike cleats.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster
Bike
  • 43m 16s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 17.24 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was cold, but overall I think I went as fast as I could. My chain did fall off within the first mile which sucked but it took me about 30 seconds to hop off and get it back on.
What would you do differently?:

Train more and go faster, get more miles into training and technique.
Transition 2
  • 02m 6s
Comments:

This was a little slower because there were about 3 people on my rack that finished at the same time as me, so it was a little crowded. And the one guy sat down right where i was trying to rack my bike. Other then that it was good. Stopped and had a gel and drank a little water, that is what probably slowed me down a little.
What would you do differently?:

Have gel in easier place to get, had to go into bag to get it. oh and Go FASTER
Run
  • 27m 59s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m  min/mile
Comments:

This is where I need to improve, but I kept a good pace a pace that I wanted to keep. My first mile was good, 2nd mile was slow, and 3rd mile picked up the pace to finish strong.
What would you do differently?:

Run more to train, although I think I was developing shin splits because I was getting pain in them while training for race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around cooled down, drank water, stretched a little.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Run time and transition areas.

Event comments:

I think overall I did well, this is my first season and I was happy with my performace. This was really my first true tri. The other 2 I did were mini or super sprints this is my first Sprint Tri.

Performance: Good
Suit: shorts (pearl Izuma)
Course: 50 m Pool swim, up and back in same lane. My seed time was a lot slower then what I actually got. I had to pass a lot of people which was a little frustrating. My swim time could have been faster because I had to do breast stroke a couple times. Almost got nailed by 3 people coming back in the lane taking up the whole lane. But glad I avoided that. Within the first 50 I was right behind the person in front of me so I had to exert a lot of energy to get around them, which sucked.

Congratulations on your first "true" tri, although the other triathlons you did were still triathlons. Seems like you will be ready for the OLY distance next year!

Great job on the race!!  I was number 313, so you might have passed me during the swim, too.  Sorry about that.  The seed times seem to always be a problem - most people say that they can swim faster than they actually do.  After two tris putting down my real time and getting stuck behind people, I put down a faster one for this tri.  It's an unfortunate part of the pool swim.

Great job like I said yesterday.  VEry impressive for your first.  Boy putting Under Armor on wet sucks!!  Now strong training for the OLY.

I saw a recurring theme in you report - Go Faster.  Nice job overall.  Every race is a little bit learning experience - at least they have been for me so far.  1:38's in traffic is great - I hope to get to that next year.

Keep it up and run some moreWink
