Ok, first let me say that I have a minor in Mathematics, but I don't ever remember having to deal with the metric system.

Alright, so I have been looking at various ironman races trying to get an idea what sort of a time someone would need to swim to be MOP in the M30-34 division. It looks like that is going to be around 2:00min/100m. What I'm wanting to know is what is the equivalent speed in min/100yds? It shouldn't be that hard to figure out, but everytime that I've tried to test my formula I some up with a different time than the websites are showing.

Thanks.

Well an easy way to do it, would be enter 4224 (1760 X 2.4) and then enter a total swim time in your workout log and hit caculate. Let BT do the math!!!

1m = 1.0936y

2:00/100m = 1:50/100y

See I knew that someone would have a very quick easy way to do it.

Thanks!

6 seconds/100m if you're sprinting, 8 if you're a decent swimmer doing distance, 10 if you're not.

I was just talking to my swim coach about this last night. He said to add 10% when switching from yards to meters. It's not exact, but pretty close.

it's very close.

to the OP - i swam 1:07 in perfect conditions and my pool time in a 25yd pool for 100 yards is about 1:40. a bit faster in a meter pool, because i suck rocks at flip turning.

the wetsuit and race adrenaline make me about 10% faster.

One cool way to figure this out is to use google.  Just type "500 yards to meters" as your search.  Google will convert it for you and list it as your first result.   You can use it for pretty much any distance conversion.
