Mimosa in the morning, after I've popped the turkey into the oven.

Watching Macy's day parade in my jammies (after the food has been prepped and on stand-by).

No probablies about it- this IS my favorite holiday. Anything revolving around food is usually right up my alley.

I love my mother's pumpkin bread. She's been making it for years and it is the most moist, delicious thing I've ever tasted. Cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and turkey are all a close second as well.

Good post Renee. I just ate lunch and now I'm hungry again!

After the madness of dinner at my in-laws, and desert at my parents (about 25-35 people at each part), going home, kids in bed, glasses of wine, fireplace lit and watching either Godfather 1 or 2 or It's a Wonderfull Life.

The greatest part of the day is about 4 maybe 5 0'clock, watching a football game. You get up and make a cold turkey sandwich with leftovers and another piece of pumpkin pie (you know when it's cold and you can hold in your hand-no fork required ). Great now I'm hungry.

My new favorite treat is Pumpkin cheesecake.

The bad part is trying to split time between parents.

Ah this reminds me of my younger days when I used to watch football (20 yrs ago), except it was a thick slice of ham between slices of that heavenly bread my mom would make. Definitely more pie, too.

The food and the naps!

Last year we skipped having Thanksgiving with the family and went to NYC and watched the parade from a corner on Broadway. It was a blast!

Two days off when it is 65 degrees in the south.  Thursday should be 2 hour ride, big lunch, football, nap, football...beer.  Sounds like a great day to me!

The bad part is trying to split time between parents.

I used to make 2 dinners - one for my parents + sister #2/kids around 1pm and another for sister #4/BIL/kids around 4pm. It's a PINTA trying to make everyone happy. Now I just focus on making me happy. Mimosas are a nice way to start the day, especially if you're sipping while wearing your fleece jammies.

my favorite thing this year is that we're not travelling AND i'm not hosting! woo hoo! my brother in law and his wife are hosting and are only an hour away. we're in charge of veggies and pies. easy.

in general though...i love this fresh cranberry relish my mom makes, so i'll make it this year. fresh or frozen cranberries sent through the food processor w/ some orange, orange zest, and some sugar. serve it with the turkey - yum yum yum.

I agree. Having had to divide myself in two my whole life, if anyone wants to see me and my family they have to come to my house. So we host every year, and it's potluck style. I cook the basics, everyone brings a side dish or dessert. Thanksgiving is my holiday to just stay home. Christmas is when I have to make the rounds and please everyone.

Ahh, Thanksgiving morning mimosa. For me it's after a long workout as I get ready to start preparing the food.

Also a member of "Group W". Alice's Restaurant is as much a part of Thanksgiving for me as turkey, football and libations. Oh, and pumpkin pie.

Just my GF and I this year, but I'll still cook for 10.
