Expert 1169 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: GO IRISH!!!!!! http://www.mratings.com/cf/compare.htm Look at all these computer polls. USC is in front of Florida in every single poll. Cumulative record of opponents is indeed rudimentary and worthless cheers. Fight on! |

Expert 1169 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: GO IRISH!!!!!! DerekL - 2006-11-28 3:48 AM Wow, three whole top 25 teams. The problem is that the computers don't know their from a hole in the ground. You get strength of schedule points from playing a bunch of mediocre teams in your own conference and a couple of good ones out of conference. You can have the #1 SOS by playing a bunch of #40-60 teams and never be challenged by a single one of them, while another team can play several top ranked teams in addition to cupcakes and have a legitimate shot at losing. Who is the PAC 10 is worth a flip other than USC? GolfMark - 2006-11-27 9:49 PM Strength of schedule kills Florida. The humans and computers say so. USC played Nebraska, Notre Dame and Arkansas. No, my good man Derek, out of their three NON-CONFERENCE games, all three opponents were ranked in the Top 25. Two other teams in their conference are Top 25 for a total of five. Florida will have played four after Saturday. None of their NON-CONFERENCE opponents are ranked. University of Central Florida?! WTF. Should USC schedule Pomona College. That is a scrimmage game. Florida would be much lower if the computers were allowed to take into account point differential in games. Way too many close calls. Here is Sagarin's rankings of by conference. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbc06.htm Pac-10 is #1. We need computers because otherwise it is just a bunch of people arguing. I will agree that humans program the computers, so, gabage in-garbage out could happen. With no playoff system, this is the best we can hope for. Fight on! |

USC is in front of Florida in every single poll. Well, duh, USC is ranked higher than Florida. However, these are Polls in which Strength of Schedule is ONLY ONE component, and then it's used only in some of them. Not arguing that Florida's SoS is higher than USC's (though that can and will be argued), just that it's far from "pathetic," which was your initial assessment. Florida's outside conference SOS, the only variable you can control, is pathetic. You don't have a choice regarding your conference (for the most part...unless you want to move to another conference perhaps). Cheers |

Extreme Veteran 372 Williamsburg, Virginia | Subject: RE: GO IRISH!!!!!! I am pulling now for Flordia to play Ohio, and yes I know it is a long shot. But what is wrong with a repeat game with Michigan. the NFL has repeat games. It just matters who wins the BCS game. Just like the NFL you could lose to a team make it to the super bowl play and win and you are the Champs. I just also hope LSU gets a BCS bowl game. And once again go UCLA |

Just like the NFL you could lose to a team make it to the super bowl play and win and you are the Champs. I just also hope LSU gets a BCS bowl game. And once again go UCLA There is nothing wrong with a repeat game. There are just not that many people that care to watch a repeat. Ratings are a driver and it would be more exciting to see USC than two Midwest schools fight it out, yet again. Florida doesn't have a chance. Margin of victory isn't allowed to be used in the computer poll so even if they win 99-0, it won't move them in front of Michigan. Regarding repeats, I also don't think many people care to watch Michigan-Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl. Michigan-LSU would be grand. Fight on! |

Resident Curmudgeon 25290 The Road Back | Subject: RE: GO IRISH!!!!!! ChrisM - 2006-11-28 1:59 PM One word: Playoffs Another "Well, duh!" moment. Wonder how much controversy would have to be generated before the college presidents or whatever powers that be actually consider some form of playoff? I'd be happy with an eight-team format, surely there has to be a way to structure this within the existing bowl scheme. Of course then there will be arguments as to why #9 deserved to get in rather than #8, to which I would respond, "Who cares?" GolfMark - 2006-11-28 1:19 PM Florida doesn't have a chance. Margin of victory can (but probably won't) sway the voters over to Florida even if it won't enter into the computer poll. As much as I'd love Michigan-LSU in the Rose, I'm afraid you're wrong and ND's huge fan base will prove more attractive. Edited by the bear 2006-11-28 2:10 PM |

There are just not that many people that care to watch a repeat. Ratings are a driver and it would be more exciting to see USC than two Midwest schools fight it out, yet again. You're right. What everybody really wants to see is USC play for another national champiosnhip they don't really deserve. Three years ago their coach whines so much they are given a share of the national championship without having to play for it. Two years ago, the scenario is the exact same but Auburn gets snubbed without getting a chance to play for the national championship despite being undefeated and USC wins an unshared national championship by beating a very inferior Oklahoma team. Maybe Auburn should have whined more. Last year, USC loses to Texas despite the fact they have "the greatest team ever". I am surprised they didn't get a share of the championship last year. Forgive me and the rest of the people wanting to give someone else a shot other than USC. The SEC has been asked to bend over long enough. USC was voted #1 in BOTH polls and didn't even get to play in the national championship game! Last year was the 'greatest offense (potential) ever'. The 'D' was sorely lacking and let Vince Young do whatever he wanted. SEC loves to toot their own horn. Guess what? Nobody listens. Or nobody that matters listens. Stop scheduling Div-I AAA co-ed lacrosse teams to play out of conference. Do you know who USC plays next year out-of-conference? Ohio State. Fight on! |

Expert 1169 Sherman Oaks, CA | Subject: RE: GO IRISH!!!!!! Notre-Dame does have a following. I think they have been terribly exposed for the fraud they are. How come Weis keeps being labeled as a guru? What has he done? He is using Willingham's recruits and doing the exact same shoddy job. ND plays three guaranteed scrimmages a year against the military academies. Do they want to win the Commander in Chief trophy??? Michigan will spank Notre Dame again. Bowls should not be repeat games, imho. Fight on! |

Champion 8936 | Subject: RE: GO IRISH!!!!!! And do you know who they play in conference? Nobody. As usual. It's really easy to talk about non-conference schedules when you play nobody in conference year after year. GolfMark - 2006-11-28 2:44 PM Do you know who USC plays next year out-of-conference?
