SO MAYBE IT DOES MATTER, WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

LOL!!! j/k ... I really don't think it matters ... and if a guy doesn't like you because you don't cook, kick his sorry butt to the curb

Maybe it's not cooking ability.  :\

Clearly, it is your other shortcomings that has prevented you from getting married.

For those that say they can't cook, why is that? I mean, I'm not a chef or anything, but I can follow a recipe. I'm not trying to be an a-hole, but is it a fear thing? My wife can't cook, either.

It's not that I can't cook.....it's that I don't want to.  And now I don't have to - since I caught my husband and pulled the old bait and switch on him!

because it simply does not interest me and being single, I don't have to.

Granted, if I had little people running around who needed to be fed, I'd learn to cook... and would most likely enjoy it.

What's so tough about cooking? Take it out of the box. Put it in the microwave like the box says. Eat it. Done.

I gave up all hope. Now I feel much better.

Oh yeah ... I still owe you the omelet lesson. *snicker*

I can cook, but that's beside the point. You guys are so convinced that we expect you to be good at something ... you don't get just how cute you are when you try something new ... especially if it's just to impress us.

I will admit, the one thing that my STBEW taught me was how to recognize a couple of simple ingredients, add some spices or sauce, and assemble into a solid meal.

I don't have great presentation skills and I don't make really high quality gourmet items but its not too hard to assemble something simple.

One of my favorite items to make is Spinach salad w/ chicken.  Fresh Spinach, grilled chicken breast, crumbled bleu cheese, dried cranberries, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.

I believe that its never about how fancy your food looks, but just that it tastes good and shows that you put in the effort.

Other than the fact that I don't like bleu cheese or dried cranberries, that sounds good .... so to answer spokes' original question ... Yes, salad counts.

Sheesh, I didn't think she was coming on to him (although who wouldn't? - blond kona boy!) just asking for info on swimming in this area.

Besides, with all of us tri-dads on this site I think there's what, like 6 single guys?  And two of them are spokes and oneword.

Which reminds me of a "cooking for your date" story:

My best friend had just started dating this guy and she was ga ga over him.  On their 3rd or 4th date, he was going to surprise her and cook for her.  He spent a lot of time and effort putting together this delicious Italian meal - salad, bread, wine, and pasta with red sauce and mushrooms.  And not just a few, but just smothered in mushrooms.........guess where I am going?  The ONE and ONLY food on this earth that my girfriend will NOT eat - and borders on the maniacal about it is mushrooms!  She hates them SO much that one year I just HAD to get her a mushroom of the month subscription for a gag gift.  Most people when in such a situation, would perhaps be willing to gag down whatever food item the person was nice enough to make them....but she just could not, and had to tell him she wouldn't be eating the sauce. So the moral of the story - cooking for her as a surprise is very sweet - but be SURE you know she  will like what you are cooking.

He wasn't too upset, they ended up getting married.  For eight months.  Poor girl. Mushrooms must have been an omen.
