Subject: novice question
I'm looking for as many views on this as possible.
I'm training for IM Austria which is on the 8 Jul this year so I've got 6 months training ahead, what I'd like peoples opinions is where I should be distance wise at different times of the year. My goal is to finish in one piece, my dream would be around 13.5hours.
I did the NY marathon in Nov and since then I would describe my schedule as training to train to end of Dec. At present I feel I could finish an Olympic (comfortably but slowly). Since I returned to traininfg six weeks ago my longest run has been 7 miles, swim 1500m (straight) and cycle 70k. even though I know these distances seem very minimal for what I want to achieve I plan to pick it up from here and am wandering what distances for each I should be aiming for in March/April/May. I plan to do 2 century rides and I was thinking mid April and probably 3 weeks later.

Opinions PLEASE.

You might back to peak at some of the IM plans on the this site for a reference..they break down the week(s) etc

Plans I see focus on duration vs. distance...

When you are done reading that click the link for training articles.  He has written a ton of great stuff on training principals, technique, strategy.....  Really, really good stuff.

Usually a peak week for an IM (done 6 to 4 week before the race) will vary between 18-20 hrs and as single separate sessions: 5K swimming, 100+ Mi riding and 2:30 – 2:45 hrs running. Of course you have to build up slowly towards that and it will vary based on your goal, your time available for training and your experience within the sport among other factors...
