Comments:

Considering I haven't done any speed work at all, I am fairly pleased with this. I am not however pleased with how the race finished. I was running toward the finish line and about 50 yds out I pass this guy, I wasn't sprinting toward the line, just running the same pace into the finish. About 3 feet from the finish line (in the finishing chute) Mr.Jackass decides he is going to sprint and pimps me right at the line. To make matters worse it was for 1st in our AG. Neither of us had anyway of knowing this since the bib numbers were random. Afterward I said something to him to the effect of "If you wanted to sprint it out for the line then we could have done that when I passed you initially, pimping me at the line like that was sorry." Then his friend got mouthy about how the race goes to the line and yakkity yakkity. I just walked away since the 5k was at my church and I wasn't feeling very Christian toward these two.
What would you do differently?:

Elbow Mr.Jackass at the line!! (kidding...well not really) For the first 5k of the year I am pretty pleased.

Warm down:

Walked around, changed and headed off to the SCT for our bike ride.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No speed work, I was working at LT the entire time.

Nice run and yes the other guy should have been sprinting with 50 yards to go if he had it in him and not wait till he was passed. But for what it is worth I think you did the right thing, by saying nothing. There will be another race for you to beat him.

Nice race, sorry about the not-so-nice guy at the finish line. Glad you were the bigger man and walked away - that's hard to do sometimes!
