Pre-race routine:

Toast and Peanut Butter. Coffee. Some meditation. Some music.
Walking around the race start area a little lost. PowerBar
Event warmup:

Too cold to go outside!!
Run
  • 2h 47m
  • 21.3 kms
  • 07m 50s  min/km
Comments:

Ran too slowly. Promised to run with some friends who were planning to come in at 2:30 or so. One abandoned, the other had calf issues. I think I got tired calves because I pushed myself to run too slowly and not leave them behind.

Good run, though, for all but the last 2 K I felt great.
What would you do differently?:

Run a little faster, do some more speedwork in training.

Run alone.
Post race
Warm down:

Met wife and kids and ate like a pig. Caviar, smoked Salmon, blue cheese and goodies.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of speed training. Poor footing. Promise to run with my friends.

Event comments:

Running Room managed well with few volunteers, but there was next to no support on the course. Just as well I didn't need any help.

Overall, I was pretty content

I guess I'm supposed to write something.

Gee, is this my 15 minutes of fame?

Well....after three weeks of sheer terror that I would have to run in -35 C it warmed up to -9 and it was a beautiful, overcast day, albeit a little gusty. Perfect winter running weather.

Ran with some good people. Took my time. Didn't get hurt and realized that I've got a great base to start training for a HIM.

Life is good.
Legs are stiff.
