Pre-race routine:

Woke up and made Crepes for the family. Yum. Drove part of the course and then met up with Cathy, Richard, Lilia, Sergeant Vik, and the other racers.
Event warmup:

No warm up, just trying to stay warm. It had snowed the night before and left a nice layer of ice on the road. Cold and windy day.

Comments:

Richard decided to run this with me. Thank god or I might not have made it!!!! Started out a bit hard the first 2 miles. Then settled into a comfortable pace. I was using this as a training race not all out. As it turns out that was as fast as I could go. Then we pushed into the wind for a about 2 miles. That was tough. turned around and headed back. Nice tailwind here. Richard and i just cruise. Then a left turn and up the hill. Caught some girls and another guy fading and left them.. THen onto the flat again. Richard and I realize we should work together and cut the wind so we traded of every 2 minutes leading. That was awesome. We started catching people now. Then turn around at 10. Right at 1:16. Then we cruised, trading the lead to cut wind. Then we would surge on the hills. Got to mile 15 and we were feeling good. Well I was having some quad soreness now. Nothing big. Kept that up until mile 19 then Richard said see you later and toook off. I was dieing at mile 19. I thought, I am not going to make it. My legs were just toast. I can't believe I ran a 7:22 the last mile. thanks Richard you are a true stud.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, we ran it the way we said. I wanted to be under 2:40 and Richard said no 2:30. So I was just there.
Post race
Warm down:

Talked to everyone, drank my endurox ate some food and went home. I guess if I had stayed I would have one a pair of running shoes in the raffle at the end. I was cold and tired.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Longest run of the year. And I went harder than I usually do in a distance of that length.. Wind for sure. It was strong. Did I already say that.

Event comments:

Fun race. Good to see all the BT'ers and Thanks again to DickDime. THat boy can run. Sorry to hold you back today.

Wow ... I think you did GREAT.  You're right about the ice and wind ... I was doing a training run with the TNT group and we were in the same area ... it was a bit chilly!  I'm totally impressed with someone who can do 20 miles in those conditions.
